Went on a long trip with mom...

Mom and I went to her CB tech just outside of Harrison, AR. I pretty much slept all the way there. Mom went into the restaurant to get some lunch to wait for the CB Shop to open. I sat and laid underneath the table and was quiet and well behaved. I just need to work on not wanting out of places in such a hurry and to be patient. We then went over to the CB Shop and I met Mr. Russ. Wasn't too sure of him but was well behaved. He put Mom's new CB antenna together for her and showed her how to do something and then we left. It was just starting to rain when we left. Mom drove through the rain off and on as we were going home. I didn't particularly care for it either and got my harness hook from the seatbelt twisted. We finally got home and I was so happy to be home. I was so wore out from the trip I went to sleep on my doggy bed.

I learned a hard lesson....

Well a couple weeks ago I was caught eating one of the mushrooms in the back yard. Well mommy went and looked up if they were poisonous to dogs and they were. So she looked at the warning signs and kept an eye on me to make sure I was okay. Well I started to hallucinate and drool and not be myself which was not good. So mom took me to the vet ASAP. The vet said she got me there in time because I knew the warning signs as well as her knowing exactly what I ate which helped the vet tremendously with my treatment. So I stayed at the vet a couple of nights.

Now mom goes and patrols the yard looking for mushrooms and pulling them up with a glove on as well as raking where fungus is on the ground and picking that up as well. Grammy and mom went and applied fertilizer with a high amount of nitrogen in it to the yard as well which is supposed to help kill those from what they found out about it.

Mom also research as to whether frogs or toads were poisonous to dogs as well because of the toads that are in the yard at night and after it rains. So because of that at night she walks me around the yard on a leash to make sure I don't go after a frog or toad. She found out that those are poisonous as well. The bumps right behind their eyes on their heads are a gland that secretes poison. So she keeps me away from those as well. I hope sharing what my mom has learned in my journal helps others parents to know what to do and such if it ever happens to them. I don't wish it on any one though after what I went through.

Went to Parrothead event for first time...

Well today mom put my doggie shoes on me for the first time. I wasn't too sure about them at first. And then eventually I got the hang of waling and running in them. We went to Pet Smart to see if we could find big sissy Amber a set of them to fit her but they didn't have any. So we left there and went to Harp's grocery store and got some cole slaw and another salad and some cheese slices like Grammy had asked is to get. Mom also got some ice as well too for the coolers as well so she could take Her and I something to drink for the event.

Well I got in the car and we went to Maumelle State Park for the event. There weren't many people there at first. But then they all started arriving. Mom walked by this huge grill thing that startled me the first time by it. But after walking by it a couple of times going to and from the car to get our stuff I was okay.

I smelled some different foods that I had never smelled before. Mom said it was crawfish and it tasted something like shrimp. She let me sniff one and I wasn't too sure of it and backed away. After we ate we just sat around. I stood watching everything that was going on. Then some kids had a beach ball and I was wanting to go play with them and mom said "Leave it" so I just stood there and watched.

Eventually we packed everything back up in the car and headed home. I fell asleep on the way home in the car. Thank goodness mom was able to make it home before it started raining. I don't like thunder or rain is why so I was glad to be at home when that started coming down. Mom gave me my medicine to help with that and I just laid down next to her where I felt safe and fell asleep from being all wore out from the day.
