Arrival Story: Riley is a very sweet and strikingly handsome 1.5 year old Australian Cattle Dog who came from a rural shelter in West Virginia. He has beautiful markings as well as 1 blue eye and 1 brown eye. At a nice 35 lbs, he is an all around show stopper!
Riley is also incredibly affectionate. He loves to get a belly rub, a few kisses and a snuggle from his people. But he’s not insistent in a way that adds up to “clingy.” He is great with people of all ages, including kids. He doesn’t jump up too often but he will gently rise up to let you know he is there looking for attention. Bio: With other dogs, Riley is a party starter. He and one of the most playful dogs in his foster home have become best buds, running, playing and romping many times a day. Riley loves to run (and he’s fast!) so having a fenced yard or a way to let him stretch his legs every day is a must. He would make a wonderful running companion.
He enjoys carrying stuffed animals around in his mouth. He loves a good game of tug. But give him a bone and he simply must find a place to bury it. The only time he settles down and truly enjoys a bone is when he is in his crate. Riley stays in his crate when his foster parents go out. He is happy to go in with the lure of a little peanut butter in a bone. He also sleeps in his crate at night and is quite content there. But he simply has too much energy to be in a crate all day, so if you have to be out of the house 8 hours a day, every day, Riley isn’t the boy for you.
Riley is starting to learn house manners. He is smart and taking well to training. He walks well on a leash and is housebroken (although he will mark at first if brought into a home with other male dogs). Riley is great with other dogs but he is NOT good with cats so only cat-free homes can be considered.
Riley is neutered, up to date on his shots and preventatives and ready to start the next chapter of his life.
Riley is being fostered in Langhorne, PA for ACDRA.
