Arrival Story:
We adopted Cal from the Lexington Humane Society in Janauary. We had planned to adopt in November 2012, and looked on-line at the dogs available then, and he was one we looked at. However circumstances changed and we were not able to adopt for another couple of months. We again looked on-line and he was still there. That told us everything we needed to know. Our boy was waiting for us and we went and picked him up.

Sleeping Arrangements

Nighttime is pretty nice around here. I start out sleeping on the sofa, but that gets a little lonely. I need to be close to Mama and Daddy so I go and get in bed with them. I like to burrow way underneath the covers at their feet. That is no nice and snuggly! I love it, and they don't seem to mind, so I figure I am not going to mess with a good thing. I get to be close to them, which is what I want, and keep an eye on them at the same time, which is my job. Gotta look after the 'rents! They're the keepers of the kibble, after all! Gosh, I have it so good around here! I must be an awfully good boy!

Something's Up!

My Mama is not feeling too well today. I knew something was up when she didn't take me out for my first morning walk when I woke up. My Daddy took me though, and that was nice. He says Mama's back has gone out, but she will be ok soon. I sure hope so, because I really love my Mama and Daddy and I need them both in good shape. I've got lots of playing and walking to do! I don't like to see either of them sick or not at their best. Maybe it has only been two weeks since I came here, but I never had it so good. There's no children or other pets to have to worry about, and I get all the attention! They are MINE. I've got them wrapped around my little paw! I rule the roost around here! But, uh- if you see them, just keep that little tidbit to yourself, ok? No sense showing all my cards. A dog's gotta be able to bluff a little, right? If you squeal, I'll deny everything-I swear I will!

My First Two Weeks

Well, I've been here for two weeks at my new home with my new Mama and Daddy. It's going pretty well. They love on me and take care of me. My life has been pretty chaotic since this past July. My family had a new baby, and I just didn't know what to do with not being the most important member of the family anymore. My family wasn't willing to work with me on that I guess, and turned me in to the Humane Society. I don't really know what I did wrong. All of a sudden I am living in a shelter with all these other dogs and spending most of my time in a cage. I was there till two weeks ago, and then out of the blue, my new Mama and Daddy showed up at the shelter, and after checking them out, I adopted them and agreed to go home with them. I'm settling in all right. They're pretty good to me-lots of cuddles and loves and good food, and they take me outside alot. I could get used to this! They were so sad when Sparky (I guess you would call him my older brother, since I am part of the family now) died back in May. I hope I am doing all I can to make them feel better. I know I can't replace him, and they don't want me to try, but looks like they are able to love me too! I try so hard to please, and I hear "Good boy!" alot, so I guess I am succeeding. Yes, things are definitely looking up! My shelter days are behind me, and this time, my family is forever!
