Nicknames: Austin Boxer Rescue

Arrival Story: Meet Flop! Flop is a gorgeous 3-5 year old flashy fawn Boxer with one cropped ear and one natural ear. Flop was surrendered to a shelter after his former owners tried to crop his ears themselves! They didn’t like how the first ear turned out, so they left the second one alone, and then didn’t like the way he looked. We think he looks quite handsome. This sixty-pound boy still needs to gain about ten pounds to be at a healthy weight. Flop is heartworm positive, but Austin Boxer Rescue will pay for his heartworm treatment after he is adopted. He recently was neutered and had a small mass removed from his chest.
Flop lives in a home with a cat and a canine foster sibling. He adores attention from anyone who will give it to him, whether it’s feline, canine, or human! He especially likes small humans. Flop is a fairly laid-back guy who is not super high-energy. He does jump when he’s excited, but mostly is well-behaved. He enjoys playing fetch and likes playing with both his human and his canine sister.
This unique guy is housebroken, crate-trained, and walks well on a leash – his foster mom tells us he doesn’t pull at all! He currently knows commands for “sit,” “come,” and “no,” and his foster mom is teaching him “down.”
Flop has, upon occasion, showed resource-guarding where his human was concerned, so he will need someone to continue working on this with him. Once he figured out that his foster sister was not a threat, he was quite content to live in harmony with her. Introductions into a new home with canine siblings should be handled slowly until Flop understands the home dynamics.
This guy has made a great companion for his foster mom and she absolutely cannot stop raving about how wonderful he is!
Thank you Staci Tubbs for virtually fostering Flop!

Bio: This boy is very friendly, and calm. He is very sweet, he just hasn't had anyone show him what real love is. I think he would be good with kids. My 4yr niece was with me and he just stood there as she hugged on him and pet him. He ignored all the other dogs and didn't react He walks very well on a leash but no other training. He was curious as one of the volunteers walked him into the cat room. He sniffed and was curious but showed now signs of aggression. He does have a lot of skin tags or moles (not sure which they are). He does have a lot of scrapes on him as well (all that have been healed) He is heartworm positive. His previous owner tried to cut his ear so one is natural and one stands up. The volunteers have told me he has had a very hard life. :(

Leave a bone for Flop
