Sylvie was adopted from the Watauga Humane Society in Boone, NC. She was transferred there from animal control in a nearby county where almost every dog is euthanized. She was shut down and shivering when we asked to open her cage. She ran through the dog door into the outside part of her cage when we opened the latch. I sat by the tiny opening and threw little peanut butter treats to her. She ate them and came closer and closer until I was able to pull her through and hold her close. She wouldn't walk, so I carried her away from the building onto a grassy area. There she came "alive" and was sweet and playful. We had brought our other dogs to meet her and they seemed to get along fine. We adopted her on the spot! How could we put her back where she had been so scared?
Sylvie had two vet visits shortly after adoption. We found out she is blind in her right eye either from birth or an old injury. She needed to gain some weight and get rid of roundworms. Despite two ultrasounds, the vet was unable to determine if she was spayed. We just have to watch her, and spay her right away if she goes into heat.
She is only about a year old and has unending energy. Our two old girls don't know what to make of her. She uses them as hurdles if they are in her path. Iris will agree to play at times. She was sick and scared in the car for the first two weeks, but after being taken for fun walks in a nearby park, she looks forward to rides, hops in the car on her own and looks out the windows. Every day we see progress toward the wonderful, relaxed dog she will soon become.
Play with me and don't stop!

Woofs and Wags Pup Pals,
Today I am three years old AND I have been in my furever home for two whole years. My pawrents love me more than ever and I am one happy pup. I am the very best car rider ever and get to go along whenever it is safe for me. That is one of my favorite things. My other favorites are playing with Bronson and digging holes in the yard! I also keep my outside space free of deer, squirrels, chipmunks and the occasional skunk. I want to wish all my Dogster pals a beautiful day. Mom just told me she and DogDad have very special plans for me today that involve car riding and playing in the park. Can't wait. Let's get started!

Woof Everyfur, Tomorrow is a very special day for me. I will be two years old and I was adopted one year ago too. I was a scared, shivering pup who didn't trust that anyone would ever care for me. Now I've learned that I will be loved and cared for furever and I can give so much love right back! I've learned how to live in a family and be both an older sisfur and a younger sisfur. Mom and Dad count on me to be a good example for my new brofur, Bronson, and I can do that really well! They are so proud of me. Even though I'm not the youngest anymore, Mom says I can still be the Princess Baby! BOL!!! Much love to all my pals, you are the best ever! Love and licks, Sylvie

A few days ago my pawrents brought home a new brofur for Iris and me. He is really small and we are confused. First, where is Metta and who is this new creature? I'm not sure what I think about him yet. I do know that Mom and Dad have to give him lots of affection and help to help him feel comfortable. They're giving us lots of extra love and cuddling so I guess it is OK. Just don't let him near my food and please, some of the toys are mine only!!! More soon, IF I decide he can be part of my family. Looks like it might have already been decided though. I want to be the princess baby always!!
