Arrival Story:
Starbuck is a beautiful fawn female with one white stripe on her nose and another that extends from under her neck to her belly. She is around a year old and still has the personality of a puppy.
When Starbuck arrived in rescue, she was so terrified that she refused to walk. She laid down on the sidewalk and a volunteer had to carry her from the car. She was covered in fleas and ticks as well. In just a few days, she began to feel comfortable in her foster home and is now a very happy girl. She gets along with the other dogs in her foster home, but is learning how to behave appropriately with them. She has not been tested with cats or children thus far.
Now that Starbuck is feeling more confident, she is full of energy, and she enjoys running and playing. She thrives on affection and attention, and positive reinforcement helps her learn manners quickly. She appears not to have been well socialized because her way of greeting new dogs and humans is currently to greet them with two paws in the air and two on the ground. Her foster dad is working diligently with her on this.
She appears to be housebroken and has not had any accidents in her foster home to date. She is learning how to hang out comfortably in her crate, and is learning to walk on a leash. She has made great progress in the short time she’s been in rescue. This brilliant girl would probably benefit from a training class and agility work to burn off some of her energy. Alternately, she would probably love to have a running buddy!
Because Starbuck is still a puppy, she enjoys chewing – be prepared to provide her with lots of appropriate chewing outlets! Starbuck is looking for a forever home who will continue working on her manners and who will enjoy her zest for life and her exuberant affection!
