Arrival Story:
Lefty is a rescue from a very abusive situation and was taken from his previous owners by the humane society. I was looking for an addition for our family and I have always had pit bulls,so I was hoping to adopt another one. I asked one of the people that work there who he would recommend and he brought me to Lefty's kennel...He had my heart right then and there, when I walked into his room he laid down and asked for belly rubs..I knew he was meant for our family...We brought him home the next day, all 35lbs of him, he was skin and bones, you could see his ribs, spine and hip bones and a few cigarette burns...It took me 4 months of puppy food for him to get to a good weight...and he is now a senior dog that weighs 75lbs,and he believes he is a lap dog and is such a happy boy, I call him my little fur kid.

Lefty is a very talkative boy, he kind of sounds like Tim Allan on Home Improvement and Scoobydoo, he also purrs and moans when he is getting his ears rubbed. Super playful, always doing zoomies around the yard, although if the grass is a bit long he refuses to walk in it until it is mowed, (he's afraid of grass longer than an inch.)He loves to play with the neighbors lab Daisy, he loves her and grossly enough if she pees while they are playing in the yard he will either roll in it or try to drink it..(so gross). He can be very neurotic at times especially when everyone goes out and leaves him at home, he will grind his teeth and shake so needless to say I try and get him a sitter when we are gone longer then 5 hours.. He is also my velcro-dog, siamese twin, everywhere I go he is there, even the bathroom, he will headbutt the door and come in, and has no sense of personal space...Lefty is known for his loud and manly burps and farts and he also snores so loud that we can't hear the t.v., But with all this about him, it makes him who he is and I love him for it and I can't help but spoil him, (he has his own couch, pillow, blankets, dog bed and kennel, and lots of toys and treats...he is so adorabull that I can't help myself...lol), when we play tug of war with him with his toys and he wins and will do a victory prance to his kennel, (we call it the pittie parade walk). He also is so well trained and a pretty mellow boy when we go on walks and loves meeting other dogs especially little dogs, he finds them amazing..lol

Missing Lefty

I found this poem yesterday that I wanted to share with everyone. It brought tears to my eyes.
Author Unknown.

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
“It’s me, I haven’t left you, I’m well, I’m fine, I’m here.”

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I’m not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said ” it’s me.”

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It’s possible for me, to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, “I never went away.”
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew…
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over… I smile and watch you yawning
and say “good-night, God bless, I’ll see you in the morning.”
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I’ll rush across to greet you and we’ll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.

Be patient, live your journey out…then come home to be with me.
