Best Tricks: she can take off my socks

Arrival Story: Ema was found as a puppy in a wooded area in France by the police (she was less than a year old). She was hanging on a tree by the neck with barbed wires. As a result, Ema keeps two large circular scars that go around her neck, testimonies of her terrible past (and I have unfortunately no hope that these scars will go away one day).
I met her in June 2010 at the end of a difficult schoolyear. I was kind of afraid to go back to uni in a foreign country. My parents finally decided to buy me a dog as a companion and a reminder of home (I grew up among animals and I'm a vet student ;) ). Buying a pure breed dog was out of the question (way too expensive at the moment and the last dog we had was a rescue and he was extraordinary...he even lived until his 19th birthday!) With my dad we decided to go on a field trip at the town's dog shelter. I only saw Ema's picture at first and i didn't know anything about her past but i knew that she was definitely going to be my new friend. The next week i bought her a harness and a leash and I brought her home with me.

Bio: UPDATE 27/01/2013: Ema has been missing for more than 4 days in L'Aigle (Normandy, France, 61 300). We are very pleased that she is the dog of the day but also very very sad and we miss her a lot. We are doing our best (day and night and with the help of the french police) to find her but the nights are cold and it is hard not to be desperate sometimes. We will keep you posted on her situation. We love you Ema.
UPDATE 31/01/2013:Still no news from our dear Ema. We are deeply saddened but we still have a little bit of hope. We got some calls over the week from people saying that they saw her (or thought that it was her) at different places which is a good sign I guess. But not a single tangible proof that she is still alive and healthy. We miss her very much.
