Arrival Story:
Rikki started off officially as my ex-partner's dog. We adopted her from the Mendocino County Animal Care & Control in Ukiah, CA--I helped pick her out, but she officially lived with him in Willits while I lived in Novato, a couple hours south. Of course, we'd see each other every week--I'd stay up in Willits, or he and Rikki would come down to stay with me and my cats. After about a year, my then-partner was arrested for a marijuana-related offense. I knew immediately that I would commit to Rikki. We moved into a little cottage with a yard. I had already fallen in love with Rikki, but living with her officially just cemented our bond into something unbreakable. My ex spent 2 years in prison in Illinois--Rikki and I waited loyally for him, but unfortunately the relationship did not work out after he was released. My ex was decent enough to realize that he was no longer the most important human in Rikki's life--she is now my baby girl officially! I love her more than moments. I love her more than life itself. She is perfection.
