Gotcha Date: December 15th 2012 Birthday: October 20th 2011 Likes: A soft bed, a regular meal, and affection Pet-Peeves: Not much, he's a pretty easy going guy Favorite Toy: He loves them all Arrival Story: Update 12/15/12 - Mooney went home with his furever Mom and Dad this morning and we couldn't be happier for him! Have a wonderful life Moo, you certainly deserve it after all you've been through. See you sometime soon!!! The Rogers’ Rescues volunteers met Mooney during a recent trip to one of the rural shelters we work with in Kentucky. He was a rack of bones, probably unwilling to fight for food against his four kennel mates, and had little to no chance of making it out of the shelter. When he melted into her lap just starved for affection, his current foster mom fell in love with him immediately and knew she couldn't leave him behind to such a sad fate so now he is in foster care in NJ until he finds his forever home. Bio: Mooney is probably just about 1 year old and weighs approximately 50 pounds but he still needs to gain some more weight. We’re not sure of his breed mix, although the shelter had him listed as a lab mix and there's hound of some sort thrown in there. Whatever breeds he might be, he is a sweet gentle boy who just wants a soft bed to lay on, some toys to play with, and people to love him. While he's unsure of people's intentions at first, he really like attention and affection and his whole face and body light up as soon as he realizes you don't mean him any harm and want to give him some love. He’s good with other dogs and he tends to be on the submissive side with them but will gladly play with them if they’re interested. He has been a wonderful houseguest thus far - while he is crate trained, he'd rather spend his time on a soft bed or a couch, he hasn't had any accidents in the house, and he's happy to amuse himself chewing on a bone or chew toy. This sweet boy may not have had a great start in life but he has a forgiving attitude and is ready to move on to his next chapter. He has a ton of love to give and will be a great addition to some lucky family who will continue to show him that it's all okay now and he will never be starved for food or affection ever again.
