Likes:
Sleeping on mommy & daddy's bed is my absolute favorite thing to do! I also LOVE going on walks. I have to smell everything in our neighborhood. What else? Sleeping in the sun on the deck, howling when mom & dad come home, making piles of socks & clothes

Pet-Peeves:
I don't like riding in the car - it makes me sick. I also don't like loud noises, baths, or getting brushed.

Favorite Toy:
The squeaky stuffed frog and the chew bone.

Favorite Food:
Well, I like anything mom & dad are eating. I don't get too many handouts but I usually get to lick the plates. But my favorite treat is Pupcorn!! Mom & Dad throw one across the room and I love to chase it and crunch it down!

Favorite Walk:
I love to go on any trail hikes with mommy and daddy. The doggy park is too scary for me. I don't like it much.

Best Tricks:
Um, I know how to sit and that's about it. Even then, I am not reliable. Learning how to use the doggy door was a pretty good trick though.

Arrival Story:
We had been talking about gettng a dog for several years but couldn't agree on a breed. We were looking at Petfinder.org one day in July 2004 and saw this cute little Beagle that was red and white - no brown spots! We decided to call up the Humane Society and ask about him. We met the foster parents at PetSmart and it was love at first site! Harris was a shy dog but very gentle and sweet. We took him home that night!

Bio:
We were told that Harris was bred by a hunter but would not "run rabbit or deer". Well, thank goodness for us!! At least he was kind enough to bring Harris to the Humane Society. We were told he is pure Beagle but we are not sure. There might be some Bassett in him. Maybe someone can tell us by looking at his picture? Harris was adopted once before but was brought back the very next day. We don't know what they were thinking! He was the last from the group of beagles that were brought in together to be adopted. His original name was "Cletus" (now that's huntin' name!) and the foster parents called him "Casey". We decided on Harris because of the wonderful time we spent on the Isle of Harris in Scotland on our honeymoon. Harris just sounded like a good hound name :) Poor Harris must have had a rough go of it in his first year of life. He is still a timid and skittish dog but has made leaps and bounds since finding his forever home with us!
