Where ever her humans are!
Being cute :)
I had made the decision that it was time to get a friend for Miss Charlee so the search began. I started with Kijiji and then started looking at local rescue organizations. After a few of months of searching, I met with a couple of potentials, however, they just didn't seem to be the right fit. Then one day while chatting with a co-worker, who also fostered for a local rescue, she told me that they had just posted some new photos on their website of some pups that had just become available and that I should check it out. So that night, I went online to have a look. Before I knew it, a cute little face caught my eye!!! Her name was Nala...my first thought was, "that name will have to change"...guess that turned out to be a sign that she was going to be mine...LOL!
I started to read her story, and needless to say it was a sad one...like so many of them are. She was a 4 month old Border Collie cross that had been rescued from a local reserve a month earlier with a severe spiral fracture of her right hind leg, which resulted in a full amputation but she seemed to be adjusting well as a new little Tripawd. I had to meet her!!! First I called my co-worker, then I called the rescue to set up a "meet & greet" and as destiny would have it, she was being fostered just around the corner!!!
After a two hour "meet & greet" with the foster Mom and Nala, I went home to talk to my hubby and to do some research on Tripawds. It didn't take me long to make the decision to give it a try...let's bring her home and see how Charlee reacts and go from there.
The name game began the first time I saw her photo, so after a few days with her we were down to three choices...Stella, Lola, or Roxy. Hubby and I both agreed the Stella was out and that Lola was probably the best one, however, that night I was talking on the phone with my Grandson, who was out of town for the weekend, and he chose Roxy...hmmm, what to do? It ended up that Nala chose...I called out both names and she responded to Roxy, so that was that! Miss Roxy became the newest member of our family on February 22nd, 2012!!!
Roxy is fitting into our family fabulously...most people don't even notice that she is missing a leg and she has no problem keepin' up with Miss Charlee, in fact, she completed her first agility class in May.
