Arrival Story: Adalia is a beautifully mannered 7 year old lady who came to ABR after her owner passed away. They had moved to Texas from New Jersey about a year ago and now poor Adalia finds herself trying to find a new home. We are so grateful that Adalia has found a loving foster home who is helping her through her grief. She currently lives with two male dogs that she likes very much as well as a cat. She is a bit intrigued with the cat but once you tell her to "leave it" she will leave the cat alone. She was clearly in a loving and responsible home as she knows a number of commands, is house trained, and walks nicely on her leash.
Adalia is very calm but she does have a very playful side: she's never met a squeeky toy she doesn't like! Her silliness also comes out when she sees a dog on TV -- she finds that very intriguing! Adalia is very friendly with children and will adjust beautifully to almost any home, although soon after her owner died she had an altercation with a family member's female dog. We think it was probably brought on by stress and grief since we have seen nothing but beautiful behavior from her, but to be on the safe side she should not be in a home with other female dogs. Her only other potential issue is that she broke out in hives after having peanut butter treats so we suspect she may be allergice to peanuts. Other than that, this healthy and affectionate girl is ready to find a family to call her own!
