Arrival Story:
I adopted Emily from a very overcrowded shelter. She had a cough the day I picked her up but they assured me that was because she has been spayed the day before and that involved a breathing tube. Within a couple days it was clear she wasn't wasn't well, she was coughing more and when she refused to continue a short walk we carried her home and took her to the vet. It turned out she had pneumonia due to untreated kennel cough. The shelter hadn't noticed and therefor hadn't treated the kennel cough, and then had performed surgery on her while she was quite ill. Luckily I had an amazing vet, and after a few weeks of antibiotics and some saline too keep her hydrated she is a whole new dog. She's 2 years old (they estimated) but everyone thinks she's a puppy. She loves walks, everybody she meets, other dogs (a little too much, when she sees a dog but doesn't get to play she cries, we are working on that). She bounces when she gets excited, and nearly everything excites her. She even gets along with my cat. I am so glad I got her when I did, before she became sicker, But there was no way I couldn't take her, the first time I came to look at the dogs, I knelled down to pet her and she climbed into my lap. I couldn't leave her after that.
