Likes: Ami loves people, despite her age she follows without a leash and loves just about anyone. She loves bones, and being involved in our lives.
Pet-Peeves: None so far.
Favorite Toy: Her braided fabric rope for tug-of-war and chewing.
Favorite Food: Bones.
Favorite Walk: Anywhere in grass.
Best Tricks: So far, come, sit, stay, paw, and lay down She is very new to our family.
Arrival Story: I have always been in love with samoyeds, but waited until I was in the right living situation to adopt a doggy. My fiance and I decided we were ready and we picked Ami up from a wonderful breeder in Montana. The drive up there was beautiful and Ami did so well with the drive. Not a single peep, and she sat in my lap the whole way.
She is so sweet and intelligent, we are very proud to call her our own.
Her Name: Ami is named after Amaterasu, a sun goddess from Shinto religion in Japan. There is a video game called Okami, in which Amaterasu is portrayed as a white, fluffy wolf-dog who resembles a samoyed. They call her "Ammy."
I forgot to mention that yesterday was my first vet visit after coming home!! I wasn't sure how I felt about the whole trip...Daddy carried me in...and carried me back out. He also held me the whole time they gossiped with the vet about me.
Mommy seemed ecstatic when the vet said that I am perfectly healthy! Although he did say that I am not getting enough food. So GREAT news for me I get to eat more foooooodddd!!!! Because I sure am a growing girl. I only weigh 14 pounds right now, but I know I am growing fast to be like my Mom.
I get my last shot in a few weeks, and my pawrents say I'll be starting obedience classes!!! I have never met any dogs other than in my sammy-fammy (samoyed family). So this will be interesting. They want me to learn to behave in front of other people and dogs.
I am so smart! I am twelve weeks and I know come, sit, stay, fetch, paw, down, and drop it (although I don't really listen to that one). I just get so distracted when I'm around other people...I forget to listen!
I believe it's time to tell the world about how I came to be, and why I am such an Ammy-wammy.
Mommy believes I am somewhat of an angel, come to take her stress away and give her the never-ending love and humor that she needs. At least that is what she thinks! Well, I am really here to pee all over the place and much much more (hey! I'm a puppy!).
My Mommy and Daddy knew they were ready for some fluffy buddy to have around the house. They wanted a companion to love them, and to take places. We live in Colorado, and there is so much hiking and sledding and so much snow to play in and and and...
They were so sure they wanted a samoyed, it sure is the breed for them if there ever was one. There were no breeders actively breeding in Colorado, so they found me in Montana. Yup! Montana. They knew I was just the right dog for them, so they drove all the way up to Kalispell, Montana to bring me home with them. It was a gorgeous drive, and we all enjoyed the way home. I cuddled in Mommy's lap the whole way back and didn't even peep. I was 9 weeks old.
Back in Montana, I lived with all my brothers and sisters. We were all so cute when we ran around in a big fluffy group together. We all greeted Mommy and Daddy together in a pile when they came through the gate. They were so happy! And I knew they had made this drive because they loved me and couldn't wait to take me to my forever home! I left my Mommy dog and all the other sammy-sams, and even though I missed them for a few days, I settled in to my new home so quickly. I have bonded with my new family so quickly. Mommy says I am just so sweet and friendly. I am very calm most of the time and just love people(except when I decide I hate my leash), and most everyone says I am super sweet. Yup, that is the word for me! That is also why Mommy calls me her angel.
My pawrents chose my name to be Ami (ah-me). They really love video games, and one of their favorite games portrays the Shinto goddess "Amaterasu" as a white, fluffy wolf-dog who looks like a samoyed with fire coming off her sides. They call her "Ammy" for short. :)
Next time I will tell all about adjusting to my new home, and all the exciting training I have been doing!
