Leave a bone for Spot

Nicknames: Spotters, Special Ed (when he wears his harness), Sweetheart, Puppers

Quick Bio:
Likes: Chasing anything that moves-most especially squirrels, cats and birds. Running and jumping -over rocks, fallen trees, sometimes for no reason at all ;-) Barking and growling and whining, and otherwise telling people what to do. Snuggling under the covers.

Pet-Peeves: When no one is paying attention to him, or paying more attention to another dog (the very idea!) when the toys get stuck under the coffee table.Getting a bath and having his nails clipped. He runs around like a crazy person after his bath.

Favorite Toy: stuffed squirrel, of course! Actually, anything stuffed that he can rip the stuffing out of.

Favorite Food: big bones

Favorite Walk: Middlesex Fells, near the Sheepfold and Willards Woods in Lexington

Best Tricks: Hmm, he can roll over, shake, beg, back up, scratch, fetch and carry, and of course sit and lay down. Oh and play dead!

Arrival Story: He was given up to a shelter because they didn't have time for him. I saw him on Petfinder.com and visited the shelter. He was very high-strung and the shelter staff almost convinced me not to adopt him! They basically said he would destroy my house if left unoccupied. So I left without him. He was still there 2 weeks later, so I convinced my roommate to let me introduce Spot to her Irish Wolfhound, and then it was a done deal! Now Spot and I have our own place, and I think he prefers it that way. Now he gets all the attention.

Bio: I can't stress enough how good it is to do obedience training with your dog, clicker training especially. It's a very easy way to communicate with your dog. Spot was crazy when I got him, but after several classes, including tricks and agility, we have a much better relationship and he is a calmer dog because he knows exactly what is required from him. He still misbehaves occasionally, but in general he is a different dog than the one I saw at the shelter, who barked frantically the whole time I was there.
