Arrival Story: Update 8/24/12: After a slight detour with a family that just wasn't meant to be, Whitney went home with her forever family tonight! Be a good girl Whitney, we'll miss you!!!! But we know you're in great hands now.
This beautiful girl was found running with another dog alongside a highway in West Virginia. When she was brought to the shelter, she was full of burrs and underweight so it’s guessed that she had been on her own for awhile. But she was obviously someone’s beloved house pet at some time – when she arrived in foster care she walked right in the house, just thrilled to be in a home again, and she quickly made herself comfy on the couch! She’s house trained, hasn’t chewed anything inappropriate, and is just happy to be with people who love her and to put the days of fending for herself and sitting in a scary shelter behind her. She is now in foster care in NJ with Rogers' Rescues awaiting her forever home.

Bio: Whitney is about 45 lb and could still stand to gain a few more. Our best guess is that she’s a flat-coated retriever mix, maybe with some spaniel thrown in. She absolutely adores people and is never far from her foster parents’ sides. She is crate trained but doesn’t really care for it and doesn’t seem to need it since she hasn’t gotten into any major mischief when left out in the house. She’s great with the resident dogs and doesn’t cause any trouble but she’s happier being with her people than engaging the other dogs in play. She also respects the resident cat and greets him with a tail wag and then gives him his space. Whitney is spayed and up to date on routine vaccinations and flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. She one of the sweetest foster dogs we’ve ever had the pleasure of sharing our home with! If you are looking for a loving, even-tempered, beautiful dog to share your home and life with, Whitney might be the one for you
