Arrival Story:
My previous owner became homeless and didnt want me living on the streets, so he turned me into the humane society. I didn't like it very much. Luckily I wasn't there for very long because as soon as I saw my mom I knew I wanted to be with her, and she felt the same way. And I've been her #1 friend since.

Down Stay

The down stay is a questionable act at the moment. Dingo listens to me when I tell him down but his down stay is something different. He prefers to sit, so he is continuously getting back into a sitting position after a minute or two. We need to really work on this. Have another session with the trainer this weekend and so hoping she can help shed some light onto what I am doing wrong or how to enforce the stay even more.

"New" Dingo

I don't know what has changed or what I have done differently but Dingo's attitude about things has improved for the better. His constant whinying that he was doing any time we were not moving and doing something has stopped. Took him to an outdoor retaurant the other day cause I had been lazy and hadn't really worked with him for a couple of days and he was begging me to work pretty much. Went their I had him sit beside me and he did so with no complaints and just watched all that was going on around him. Didn't make one peep. After about a minute he layed down on his own accord and took a nap. Makes me feel so much better about the whole situation and gives me some hope. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this "new" Dingo stays for good.

Also worked a bit more again on his cueing for my dissociative disorder that I have in relation to my panic attacks. Something that haven't worked on for about a week now, again because I've been sooo busy and also extremely tired. He was across the room snoozing and I started fidling with my hands (something often do been told right before I go into one of my episodes). He got up from his nap came over to me and put his upper body into my lap. I prefer him to just paw at my leg for this behavior but I was more than thrilled that he responded to me so quickly and so out of the blue. I did make him redo the task in the proper way of just pawing me and not jumping up but something is better than nothing in my book.

And having him beginning to figure things out and acting and doing as he is supposed to do will help me as I am figuring it to take me quite some time to find a good dog for SD work to replace Dingo. Because I do also have balance issues and I know he can't help me with those things as well as Dingo's age is against him with already being 5-6 years old.

Keeping fingers crossed he keeps this new attitude. Way to go Dingo!

Tonight my mom took me for my CGC test and I passed with flying colors. And the trainer thought I was so good she used me to help test the other dogs as well. I was so proud of myself. Now mom says we can move forward on my training but it will be awhile before my next test cause we have a lot of work to do.
