Arrival Story:
I first saw a Corgi in a pic on Google. I thought it was cute, but that was it. Anyhow, about a week or so later I got bored and decided to check out what would come up about these dogs. I Googled "Short legged dog" and well from there, I started to like them more and more. Eventually, I was basically drooling over anything and everything Welsh Corgi, Pembroke or Cardigan. I joined a Corgi social networking site, and because of them, I learned that a lot more than I thought there was to learn and eventually I joined up a rescue page online. I wasn't looking to get an adult. I was just wanting to let them know of Corgis I could find online who needed homes, etc. Time went on, my boyfriend and I were about to move into our first apartment together and BAM! Someone posted his ad onto the rescue page. "OMG.. THERE IS A CORGI IN MY TOWN!!" so I emailed his owner. I didn't move from that computer for hours, my tab pulled up. I couldn't take it anymore, I had convinced myself I had bombed it, and had scared her away. So I shot another email to add some stuff I wish I had the first time. A couple hours later, REPLYYY!! I couldn't contain my excitement. Then I opened the email... It was his owner telling me that someone else was already coming to meet him and take him home, that she sounded extremely interested but if she did somehow fall through that I would be next in line. I was heart broken, fighting tears and everything. Then I reminded myself, "It's not like you could have gotten him anyhow. You still have to live at your mom's for two more weeks and she won't let you have a dog. Calm down, self." (I dunno why I bothered to email her in the first place, but clearly an awesome decision.) I replied shortly but as friendly as I could. Then the next day, BAM! She was in touch with me again, and she was telling me that the other lady backed out. I was beyond ecstatic!! Then: Crap. Two week period of time and she wanted him to be gone within the next three days. "Great. So I can't have him." I thought. I wanted to make sure that I stopped myself before I got any further into the excitement and, even though I thought it was going to be pointless, I texted my mom and asked her, stating he was potty trained and well behaved........ Reply: How is he with kids? I didn't even understand why she was asking at first. I mean, of course because of my little brother, but.. My mom was really going to let meb bring a dog into her home?:O I about had a heart attack! Haha. After figuring out that Ziggy was kid-okay, we made plans to go meet him the next morning. I stayed up until about five in the morning emailing his owner before I realized that if I slept the time would go by quicker and I grabbed a 4 hour nap and then was up, dressed and yanking my mom out of bed. When we got to her house, she invited me in and led me back to her bedroom.. It was one of those "This hallway is getting longer" moments. (I'd never seen a Corgi before so this was a double whammy of excitement for me.) Then we walked into the room, I looked at him and then it was like he was glowing! And everything was blurry! (Both probably because I was so happy I teared a bit lol.. Wow I'm a weirdo!) After petting him, that was it, there was no way I was leaving without him. It is my goal in life to make sure that he stays happy and healthy in my care for as long as possible. I'm his fourth home in about five months, and I hope (I do know sometimes things that are out of your control happen, especially since I got him a little before I should have, I wanted a stable home that I owned but.. Well, apartment life isn't awful for dogs, there are plenty who live in apartments and are happy.. I just wanted to be more stable for my own peace of mind haha) that I am his final home.
