Arrival Story:
My self trained service dog passed gently away in our home after a long life. I didn't want another dog at the time so my tribute to him was to help train other service dogs (I have a lifetime of training experience). I met Wesley as a puppy and he decided he would be mine. He had been born dead and revived so he was already a special pup. After much deliberation, I finally gave in to him and took him home. The day I took him home I realized he was a bit lethargic. The next morning he was even moreso. We bundled him up and took him to the vet who told us he likely wouldn't live through the next day. Three days later we were called to come pick up our pup, so Wesley cheated death twice at only a few months old. After working incognito and for other people for so long training dogs, Wesley has become my inspiration and I opened my own dog training business. He is my mascot and my figurehead. He is also my friend, companion and ear when I need to talk :) Many more pictures of Wesley here: http://www.northcountydogtraining. net/northcountydogtrainingwesley.h tml

Today I met Tabby. He's an adorable black and white Lhasa that has reactivity issues towards many things. Today we worked on reactivity towards the doorbell and towards people coming to the door. Tabby responded very well to training, here is a link to a you tube video of his progress... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmtntP0PnKM&feature=youtube_g data there will be links to videos of his his resource guarding issues and training to deal with it as well.

Greenies bad for dogs??

Yesterday, I read an article about Greenies being bad for dogs. The article stated that five dogs had died from the consumption of these treats. It further stated that they did a test on the product by putting it in water overnight to see what would happen. The article said the Greenie broke apart into pieces that were highly expanded and looked a lot like carpet padding. Not one to believe everything I read, I decided to do the test myself. My test has been in progress for just shy of an hour and I have three progress pictures posted. You can see those pictures by going to my website www.northcountydogtraining.net and clicking on 'check out the Greenie test'.
