Arrival Story:
On August 2o, 2010, I saw a picture of Bello, then Sammy, while surfing petfinder as any dog lover is prone to do. I've wanted an akita for years, but was taking a break to look through huskies and the mixes, just because they are fun to look at. Well, I fell in love. It was an accident. I swear. I was only 16 and was instantly begging my mom to let me adopt him. Swearing to pay all of his bills (and I do/did). Normally my mom is a beast at saying no, but for some reason she felt compelled to get him this time around. We went behind my step-dad's back and drove two and half hours to Waverly Animal Shelter in TN, getting there just before closing. We got him out of the cage and he paid no attention to us, choking on the leash, gagging, smelled gross, and wasn't white. My mom didn't really want him when she saw the scruffy little beast in person, but I said I still wanted him, we adopted him, drove home to a super pissed of step-dad that didn't talk to us for over a week. Super worth it. Bello's personality outweighs his looks.
