Dog Of The Day!

Hooray! I gots featured as "Dog Of The Day" on Dogster! Thank you!!!
I have not been on here much besides the mommas posting to some of the articles on here and I apologize for that. So, here's an update: I got a paw pad injury last Thursday. We're not sure how, but it was on one of my walks. Perhaps I stepped on a small piece of sharp glass or metal. It's odd because mommas is always looking on the ground for things that I should avoid. Anyway, the bleeding stopped after the first day which is a fantastic sign. Now I get cleaned and re-bandanged three times a day. Mommas even used one of her bandanas to create a sling for me to keep the pressure off and speed up the healing! Our walks are much shorter now and I cannot romp in the snow that we just got - this depresses me. The white coat lady was booked until Tuesday so mommas doing the best she can and hoping someone cancels an appointment. I don't think they can do much since it is an area that generally cannot be stitched. We've gotten some great advice from a few fans and friends on my Facebook page though and I think I'll be alright for now.

First poem in several years

I haven't written a poem in so long, but in under two minutes this came to my head. I hope I have many other things posted on my account if you'd like to see (message me first). Anyway, here it is:

I have a tail. I have paws. I have a snout.
You would pause your life for me, no doubt.
I have fur and soft, floppy ears.
Is the allure of having a dog
The same as having a human near?
It's not anything close,
It's actually much more than most.
A thief of hearts.
Saliva filled with love.
Could there possibly be any creature
Made more perfect from above?

Please do not post this anywhere without my permission. I am adamant about my written art form being kept as my own and not stolen. Even if you do, this date will be saved as the first. So, think before you try it.

Frankenstorm and the Missing Dog License

Mommy has been waiting since JULY for my renewed dog license. It has been expired since August 29th. We live very close to the shore and she was a little bit worried about how we were going to be able to get into a pet friendly evacuation center without a renewed license. Luckily, we live far away enough so that we didn't have to evacuate, but she told me the damage that was caused was still massive down by the park I usually play and run at. She wouldn't take me down to see because she said it was too dangerous for me. She brought back pictures though. The most incredible part is how far up the waves pushed giant slabs of concrete. There was a spot where a good 35 or 40 feet of railing and concrete was smashed and carried onto the highway. Actually there were two spots like that. She didn't walk all the way down along the Verrazano Narrows, but just the little bit she did seemed to be hit the hardest. We weren't at home when the hurricane hit. She brought me along to her friends house to ride out the storm. There was one point were she had no choice but to take me out to do my business and the winds were stronger than I have ever felt. She couldn't keep me out for more than a minute. I'm glad this is all over and everything is almost back to normal. Unfortunately, she won't be able to take me out to my favorite dog park in Manhattan for a while because the subway system is still not crossing the bridges and the shuttle buses will be much too crowded. We both hope everyone else who was in the path of Sandy's wrath made it through as easily as we did - or at least with no major complications. We didn't even lose power!

Just when I thought the issues were solved...

So, just when Boris seemed to be getting over some not-so-good behaviors, another one has come up in the past week or so. He has started to bark at EVERYONE that he does not know. Particularly when they come up from behind us as we are coming back (from a walk or wherever) into the gate to the apartment complex or through the door. He will also bark at any stranger(s) who come up to me to ask a question or start a conversation. This is causing a serious problem. Not only could it jeopardize my living situation and possibly make me lose my place, but I also don't want my neighbors (especially the children) to be afraid of him just because he's got a big mouth. He has never bitten anyone and I don't think he would. He acts like his father (Gauge growls but still wags his tail and wants you to pet him) quite a bit and the few people who were daring enough to continue petting him even after he barked at them, never got more than a low growl with a wagging tail. Anyway, if anyone has some advice on how this issue can be addressed, please let me know. Thank you.

July 24th, 2012 - The Garbage Conundrum and Grandma Ally's Dinner

Mommy has been pretty busy lately. She has been volunteering at the ASPCA and sometimes I am stuck waiting at home longer than usual for her. I don't really like it, but I know better than to make my toilets in the apartment. I have been getting scolded quite a bit lately though because I keep going into the garbage and making an enormous mess. I know it's wrong, but I can't help myself! The smell of garbage drives me crazy! I love to chew it up and drag it all over the apartment! Even when mommy tried putting up the gate to block off the kitchen, the scent of the garbage was calling for me. I figured out how to open the gate with my snout. Oh, glorious garbage!

Tomorrow we are going to visit my biological mommy's (Steely) non-biological mommy, Ally. She volunteers at Graffiti Church and we are going to get together for dinner there. We were supposed to go last week, but then it started pouring out of no where! I even got his with hailstones. I dislike the rain very much. I reminds me of the shower when mommy has to bathe me. I hate baths too, but I put up with it. I know I have no choice and mommy will just put me right back in the tub if I try to escape. I like being in my natural odors, but mommy says I get too stinky sometimes. When we go for a walk after I get my bath, I try to sniff out the strongest, grossest scent I can so that I can rub my entire face and body in it. Mommy really dislikes when I do this, but I love doing it as much as I love destroying/chewing up garbage!
