My DNA

I got my DNA results!

Turns out I don't have any Chihuahua DNA like mom-mom thought! Pug & Boston Terrier are where I get my looks from. Argentine Dogo & Jack Russell Terrier also showed up but probably due to dominant/recessive genes I don't look like them.

If anyone is interested in being tested, the test is only $65.00 right now!

What a nice surprise this morning~ I'm Dog of the Day :)

I haven't been on Dogster in a while, it's nice to come back and see some friends! I hope everyone is doing good! It's also Labor Day today, so mom-mom is home with me!!

I've been busy being a good girl. I found out that I really enjoy going to the beach, sometimes I even go in the water. Daddy takes me all the time. In the afternoons I usually go to work with mom-mom, so I am pretty busy.

I'm going to a dog swim next Sunday at a water park. The pools are closed to humans after Labor Day and they do a big fundraiser for homeless animals. I had a blast last year!

Mom-mom decided to have my DNA analyzed to see what types of dog I am. Pug/Chi was always mom-mom's guess but lots of people have different opinions. I should have my results in the next couple of weeks~ I'll let you guys know!

Well thanks for stopping by today, I'm gonna go for a walk!

I had my echocardiogram yesterday, and got good news!

My murmur is considered a grade 2, but mild. I don't need any medication or have any activity restrictions. It's not even a risk for me to go under anesthesia. They didn't find any heart disease~ so it's likely I was born this way. We are very relieved.

It's been very hot lately, so my walks have been shorter. I hope you are all enjoying our first full day of summer!

Tick. Tick. Tick...

I got my results back from my blood test. I tested positive for Anaplasmosis and Lyme disease.

I will be starting a month of Doxycycline (antibiotic) today.

Mom & Dad are not surprised that I tested positive because when I was found in Mississippi I had lots of ticks and fleas, I would have been VERY lucky not to have been infected. At least my heartworm test is negative!

Ticks are such nasty creatures! Some of you may remember that Sasha had Ehrlichiosis, but never had any symptoms. Hopefully I have some of Sasha's luck!

I have been in my home for two weeks now, things are going good!

The cats are starting to get used to me, but they don't want to play with me yet. I have been going on lots of walks and I even went to work with Mommy all last week! I'm a hard worker!

I had a vet appointment last night. Everyone there was happy to see me, they all knew Sasha really well. They all said I was cute and well behaved.

I got a microchip and boy did I scream when the put it in! I don't like needles! They also took blood to test me for lyme disease.

Dr. Ripp took a looong listen to my heart. So long that Mommy & Daddy knew something was wrong. Turns out I have a heart murmur. Dr. Ripp said that the type of murmur I have is unusual in a dog my age. I am scheduled to go back to the vet next Wednesday for an echocardiogram so that we will have more information. Dr. Ripp said that I am okay for now, but as I age it could be a problem and I might need medication.

I'll keep you furs posted on how I'm doing, keep your paws crossed!
