Favorite Walk: I don't walk, I leap, run, gallump and trip.
Best Tricks: none yet
Arrival Story: Today I found a quiet little girl at a shelter 100 miles from my home. I actually went to see another puppy, but one quiet girl cam over and sat right next to me and put her head on my knee. When I looked in her eyes, I knew I didn't need to look any more, because I had been chosen to be her new mom. She's only been here for a few hours and has made herself at home. Snuffy will be playing with her very soon. I'm not so sure about Simba, but he'll adjust. I won't fill in the rest of her profile until we know each other better and that shouldn't take very long. All I know right now is that she stays pretty close to me, is very cuddly and friendly, gallumps along, likes to eat (anything and everything), is very curious and is a chewer.....we'll work on that.
Bio: Snickers came from a very over crowded rescue/shelter that tries really hard to keep everyone happy, healthy, clean and well fed.
My name is Snickers or Snicker-Doodle or Nickers or Nicky. I don't care. I answer to all of them now because they are all ME. I have been in my very own home with my very own Mommy and Daddy and 2 big furbrothers since May 17. Mommy says that is not very long, but it feels long to me. Mommy says I will be here forever and always and that makes me very happy. I have a yard to run in, lots and lots of toys, food and water whenever I want it and lots of love. I also have lots of soft places to sleep. Sometimes I sleep under Mommy's computer chair when she's on the computer and I sleep with her every night in her big bed. (Snuffy thinks it's HIS bed, but it belongs to all of us.....except Simba always sleeps on the comfy ugly couch.) My Daddy works far away and when he comes home Snuffy and I snuggle and take naps with him.
Mommy and my Aunt Debby came to the shelter where I was living to find a sister for Snuffy to play with. I knew from the second I smelled her that this was my Mommy and she said yes and took me home! It took a long time in Aunt Debby's car to get to my home and we stopped 1 time and a guy put a sack through the window. I was sleeping, but the smell from that sack woke my nose up. It was a hamburger! I thought it was wonderful! Now I know LOTS of food I like and if I wait nicely, Mommy shares some when she's done. That's the rule, but sometimes it's very hard to wait.
I'm trying very hard to learn all the rules and be a good girl, but Mommy says I get bored and have too much energy and then I get in trouble.
Sometimes I cry in my sleep. Mommy thinks that I'm remembering the before. The shelter was a very crowded, noisy place, but there was food and water and blankets and some treats and toys and the people were very nice. The before is the ditch and the mean people where I was born and lived for my 1st 4 months, but I don't want to talk about that. Now I have everything a puppy could want and I hope all the pound puppies still waiting get a wonderful forever home, too. Mommy and Aunt Debby check the shelter and they said all 5 of my sisters have homes now and that makes me very happy, too. Mommy says "Don't shop. Adopt" and that is good. :)
I met my Daddy. He thinks I'm precious and cute and he's glad I picked Mommy and came to our house. He gave me burgers and hot dogs and fries and some stuff called tenderloin and I like all of them! He picked me up and let me sleep on the big bed with him and we snuggled a lot. My brother Snuffy grrred cuz he thinks it is his bed. He gave up on the 3rd dark and now I sleep on Mommy's side and Snuffy sleeps on Daddy's side. But this morning my Daddy went away to a place called work. Mommy said it's a long way away and Daddy will be gone for 4 weeks or so. I do not know how long that is. Snuffy says it is a lot and a lot of darks. I miss him very much.
Snuffy plays with me a lot now. We play "who has the stick", tag, "chase me chase you", wrestling, "steal the toy" and hunt for rodents. I don't know what a rodent is, but Snuffy does and we both smell where they were and follow the smells. It is a lot of fun at my house and I am very happy here.
I am 4 months old and until yesterday I lived in a very noisy crowded place with my sisters, brothers and lots of other dogs and cats. The humans there were very nice and gave us scritches and hugs and food and water and treats and toys but there were too many of us to get very much of anything, only I did not knbow that. The old dogs told me we were there because nobody wanted us, but how could that be? We were all happy, healthy and beautiful, except this grumpy old cat who liked to hide in the closet and then scratch dogs on the nose when they looked in and saw her. She was not beautiful or nice. All I knew was that I was clean and there was food and that was way way better than before I went to the shelter. I was only in the shelter for a couple weeks and I thought it was a wonderful place to be. And then these 2 ladies came in and looked at all of us. One sat down on a cart and petted everypup. I went over and sniffed her and then i got on the cart and sat down with her and put my head on her leg and she scritched me a lot. I decided I wanted to go home with her and she said YES!! It took a long long time to get to HOME, but they stopped and a guy stuck a sack in the window. I was sleeping, but my nose woke me up. I had never smelled anything like that. It was a hamburger and it was WONDERFUL! I have only been HOME for 1 day, but I know it really is HOME and I know I like hamburgers and hot dogs and cheese and puppy cookies and peanut butter sandwiches and eggs and there are magic food bowls that always have kibble in them and I am SO HAPPY! I have a MOM and 2 big brothers and a house and a yard and grass and soft places to lay and toys and I have a very big lot of stuff to learn, and I will try to learn everything and be a good girl. AND Snuffy says I have a DADDY too, but he is not here now and I will meet him 1 week. I don't know how long that is, but I can wait that long.
