Who's still around?

Sadly, on 26th October 2012, I had to make the very hard decision to put Rocky to sleep. He had fought cancer like a trooper for seven months but in the end, it wasn't fair to keep him going for my sake. I miss him every day and think about him all the time... I will never, ever forget my beautiful boy and I'm sure he is at Rainbow Bridge having a fab time with all the other passed Dogster pups. Sleep well, beautiful boy, momma misses you xxxx

What color is your collar?

My collar is green, army camouflage, because my dad is in the military and he thinks it's cool :o)

What kind of food do you eat?

I eat mostly proper meat now... My favourite is raw steak but my mum sometimes cooks me some chicken, venison or beef to mix with my wet senior food that helps my joints...

What are your favorite treats?

TRIPE! Or in the summer, those yummy ice lollies my mummy makes with cream cheese and blood... Nom nom.

Do you have a Valentine or significant other?

I have a Staffie friend called Jenna who I get all fuzzy around. My mum and her mum laugh at me :o/

Do you get table scraps?

Shhhh... Yeah, all the time. But only if I lay down nicely. Mum doesn't like me staring at her like I'm starving. Or because I'm quite a big boy, when I sit nicely, I can rest my chin on the table... Not good, my mummy says.

What is your favorite toy?

My blanket than grandma knitted for me... My mum and I call it a blankie. I roll on it all the time, chew on it and wrap it around myself when I sleep :o)

When is your birthday?

July 4th... But I'm not an American doggie so that day is only my Birthday... I'd like to go to America on my Birthday though because it would be like everyone was celebrating me!!!

How many times a day do you get to eat?

Two. Breakfast and Dinner. I do get a lot of snacks throughout the day though :o) And I get a lot of exercise so it doesn't really matter. Mum says I'm very lucky because I am half Greyhound and have always been skinny!

Do you have a favorite colour?

I like all colours... My favourite blankie is all different colours.

Do you hope all your pals put this in their diary?

That would be nice :o)

ADOPT 2012 CONTEST

Hi there :o)

So for my entry, I thought I would tell you a bit about myself and my life as a rescue dog...

My name is Rocky, I am a Chinook crossed with a greyhound and my human, Lauren, and her family rescued me 10 years ago from Battersea Dog's and Cat's Home.

I'm not going to lie. I was a bit of a handful back then.

well, I like to think of it more as I was a bit 'quirky'. I was not even one years old when my humans decided to adopt me but I had already had three homes... Ooops!

So, as you guys can imagine, my rehabilitation was a long road... It started with a lot of exercise, lots more rules and even more training. I didn't mind this so much because I finally felt as though a family loved me and that I had found my forever home...

I still liked to run away every now and again, but deep down, I'm sure they always knew I would come back, no matter how annoyed and worried they got.

I was finally getting two hours exercise a day... Around the lake, playing fetch on the polo field, running through the woods like a maniac and taking frequent trips to the beach (my favourite place in the world)! Not to mention, lots of obedience training in the back yard :o)

After a while, I was finally a happy, balanced dog... I could walk round the lake and play fetch off-leash and I was becoming a bit nicer to other dogs... I was even taught how to play nicely with my doggy friends (I'm now pro at that).

Within a year, I was also going out with Lauren when she went riding on her horse. This was a big deal as I used to like to chase and try to nip the horses!.. Well, they were asking for it! All high-and-mighty, pracing around and whining, just begging to be chased and herded! But I realised that I had to leave them be and that horses were only to be herded by humans. Instead, I let out my frustration on Lauren's riding boots... Nom nom, tasty leather!

10 years have passed since I was brought home by my humans and a lot has happened in those times... We were a military family so I got to move all over the place :o)

I've ran riot through the Highlands of Scotland, chased squirrels in Hyde Park in London, eaten ice cream in Berlin City Centre, met monkeys on the rocks of Gibraltar, chased the waves on nearly all of Cyprus's beaches and watched many parades at The Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst...

I know live with my main human, Lauren, as she is now older and when she left home, she took me with her. She is training to be a doggy person. Which she says is thanks to me, apparently, she learned a lot from me too! And we live and work with lots of dogs.

I'm very happy because I always get to show off my Canine Good Citezen Awards and show less well-behaved dogs what a model dog I am.

I may not have long left in this world as I am very ill now, but my human has told me that the last few months we have together will be just as good as my life with her has been. I wish I could reassure her that I will go to Rainbow Bridge a very happy chap and I will wait eagerly for her to join me.

I've had a good life :o)
