Arrival Story: I've had dogs all my life and in summer 2011 I'd lost a 15-year-old purebred Beagle to kidney failure. Was waiting for the right moment to adopt another dog, so much was going on in my life that I didn't get a chance until this Spring (2012). I adopted Abby as a rescue when she was about 5 months old. She was part of a litter of 7 pups and they were all given names of lucky items. Her nickname was Wishbone. I wanted to keep the name, but they told me she didn't know it so we could name her whatever we wished. She's a sweetheart. A real ball of energy who loves to go on long walks and hunt down birds, squirrels and rabbits. She also loves to cuddle and give hugs and kisses.
Bio: As to her mix, the rescue group thought she was Beagle & Treeing Walker Coonhound. A few folks thought she had Foxhound in her as well. DNA test showed TWC, Beagle, and a bit of Greyhound (!). Her coloring seems more like an English Coonhound's, though. Hm. No matter what, she's as sweet as they come.
Apologies for being so quiet on here for so long, my life has been so busy. Anyway last week I got a new little sis!! Her name is Lucy and her rescue group (as well as our vet) thinks she is about a year and a half old. She is tiny, only 30 lbs and probably about 5 inches shorter than me at least! I think she has a lot of beagle in her, but her face looks a bit coonhound (like me) or foxhound. We are trying to add a page for her, but we keep getting errors for the photos. GRRRRR!!!!!*
Well, I hope this will be fixed soon so you can all see what she looks like. She is a lot of fun, we both love to run and play although she gets on my nerves sometimes when she nips at my ears, cheeks or legs! I retreat to my crate whenever possible. I guess you can tell I've grown up a bit myself, lol
Hope everyone is keeping cool!
*do not upset a coonhound, it is not a pretty sight
Hi fur-iends! How has everyone been? I'm sorry I haven't updated in a while. Mommy has been really busy and dealing with a stressful situation. I've been trying to cheer her up as much as possible. It's been very hot and humid here lately! Too hot to even take a walk during the day, so we wait until it's cooled down a little at night. All I want to do most of the day is lie in my crate in the cool air conditioning! I hope the weather cools down soon!
I hope you are all managing to stay cool too!
