DAY 655, Monday, 12/23/13

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas….
[stop music]

It looks like we might have a white Christmas after all. Even though all the recent snow has melted, Bob says that we may get a little more tomorrow. I hope so. That would sure make my Christmas happy and bright.

You’ll never guess where I went today. I went with Bob and a couple of his friends to a movie. Yep, it was my first time in a movie theater. Bob was concerned because he didn’t know how I would react to the loud noises in an action movie, but I just stretched out on the floor and made myself comfortable for two hours and 45 minutes. Later, we went out to dinner with two other friends of Bob’s, and again I impressed the heck out of everybody. Ho hum. Another typical day.

Phooey! It got warmer, and all the snow either melted or got washed away by all the rain we’ve been having. At one point, the rain got so heavy that it washed out part of the driveway down the hill next door. I’ve been keeping an extra watchful eye on Bob to make sure he doesn’t trip and fall down. He seems to do that a lot, you know. I told him, “I can watch you, Bob, but I can’t pick you up when you fall down.”

That boo-boo on my tail seems to be healing, and I haven’t licked at it once today. Bob said he was proud of me. Of course!

What did I tell you about those towels around my neck? I managed to get at the sore spot on my tail in spite of the towels. Bob said he was at his wits’ end, so he finally gave in and took me back to the vet. The vet said that what Bob thought was just a scab was actually a secondary infection, and that’s why I was chewing at it. So, he scraped it off and gave me some medicine, and guess what. I haven’t chewed on it since.

I told you I’d fix it. That Elizabethan collar was no match for me. I managed to tear it to shreds today. Unfortunately, Bob decided that his only recourse was to wrap another towel around the one already around my neck. He thinks that’ll keep me from getting at that sore spot on my tail. Let me see a show of paws out there. How many of you think that’ll work for long?

We had another inch or two of snow last night, but how am I supposed to enjoy it with all this junk wrapped around my neck? Don’t worry. I’ll fix it.

Bob and I have been shopping around for a new vacuum cleaner. We have two in the house, but they don’t pick up dog hair very well. We had a good one back in Flagstaff, but there wasn’t room in the car to bring it. Bob says the floors in the house look whiter than the snow-covered ground outside. In case you haven’t figured it out by now, Bob has a tendency to exaggerate.

I told you I would get even with Bob for putting that ridiculous and annoying Elizabethan collar around my neck, and I did. Obviously, I couldn’t put one on him, so I did the next best thing: I goosed him with it. Wow! You should have seen him jump. And I never knew that a human being could sing that high. His voice must have gone up 37 octaves. It was so high pitched that only we dogs could hear it.

Yippee! It’s snowing! There must be at least four inches out there now, and we should have at least two more before it stops, and we could have another three more tomorrow. Pennsylvania’s not so bad after all.
