Just as he had promised, Bob came to pick me up this afternoon and drive me back to our new home in Phoenix. I enjoyed my stay with the Romans, but I was excited to see Bob again. Bob anticipated that Dr. Romans would not accept any payment for looking after me, so he stopped at the store first and bought a couple of boxes of valentine’s candy for her, which I thought was a pretty nice thing to do.

Because the car was so loaded with stuff, I actually got to ride up front for the first time. I think I prefer the back seat, though. I like being able to stretch out, and I don’t have to watch how Bob’s driving. It gets pretty scary sometimes.

Bob sent a text today asking Dr. Romans, “How’s my bud?” Dr. Romans replied, “He’s wonderful and perfect!” When Bob wrote that he would be arriving in Albuquerque tonight and in Flagstaff tomorrow afternoon, Dr. Romans responded, “I was hoping you would take longer. I am dreading giving him back.” Bob teased, “Well, I supposed I could turn around and come back in a couple of weeks.” I don’t think Bob was quite prepared for Dr. Roman’s reply: “Perfect!”

Apparently, today is what the Humans call Valentine’s Day. That’s when they give each other treats to show how much they like each other. Unfortunately, the treats are usually chocolate, so we Canines have to stay away from them—-not that we want to, but they’re not really good for us.

I’m having a grand time with my buddies at Dr. Roman’s house. I heard that Bob left Pennsylvania this morning but ran into a snow storm and traffic jams just north of Dayton, Ohio, so he pulled off and spent the night in a hotel. It’s a good thing that he’s safe, but it’s too bad he couldn’t find a place where he would have playmates like I have here.

Humans are so unpredictable. The folks at Dogster told us that they were discontinuing the community forum, which is where my diaries have been, so I had Bob create a new Web home on wordpress.com. Now, the Dogster folks are saying they have changed their minds and will keep the community forum. Well, I suppose that’s a good thing, but now I have to decide whether to keep my diaries in one place or the other—or to continue posting in both locations. It’s not more work for me ‘cuz I only have to dictate it once, but poor Bob has to post it twice. Then again, he has nothing better to do, so….

Well, I guess Bob flew back to Pennsylvania without me today to load up our stuff and drive back to Phoenix. He said he’d be back to pick me up in about a week or so. I don’t mind; I’m having a grand time with my pup pals at Dr. Roman’s house.

My diary got a “like” from an interesting blog: http://airportsmadesimple.com. Check it out.

Oh, boy! Oh, boy! Oh, boy! I’m so excited. I’m going home tonight with my vet, Dr. Romans. See, I started chewing my tail again, and Bob was afraid he might have a problem taking me on the plane again, so he contacted Dr. Romans from Flagstaff, and it turns out that she is in the Phoenix area today. So, we made arrangements to meet her. I will look after her until Bob drives through Flagstaff on his way back to Phoenix from Pennsylvania. But you know what I’m really excited about? She’s got four Canines looking after her, and the last time I stayed at their house, we had a grand time playing. I can’t wait to see my buddies again.

Bob went shopping today for a new bed for our new bedroom. I gave him very explicit instructions before he left for the store:
1. It must be at least a queen size so I have plenty of room to stretch out on it.
2. It can’t be too high off the floor ‘cuz the bedroom isn’t big enough for me to get a running start to hop up there.
Unfortunately, Bob doesn’t always listen to me the way he should, so we’ll see what he brings home.

I discovered something else I like about the place we’re moving to. There’s a little park just down the street with plenty of room for me to run and play. Now all I need is lots of little guys to play with. I’m sure that once word gets out that I’m in town, they will start crawling out of the woodwork.

I had to laugh at Caleb this morning. When Bob got up, he looked out the sliding door and saw me sitting on the patio, so he slid open the door, let me in, and locked the door. When he turned to go into the kitchen, he heard a tapping on the glass. It was Caleb standing there on the patio trying to get in. He had been swimming in the pool. “Oh, I’m sorry,” said Bob. “I didn’t know you were out there.” Caleb glared at me and asked, “Biscuit, why didn’t you tell Bob I was taking a swim?” I just looked back up at Caleb and grinned. Hee hee.

Alex is determined to make things work out with the cats. He talked to his mom about it, and she recommended getting one of those pet gates and putting it up between the kitchen and the living room. That way, the cats can be in the kitchen and I can be in the living room; we can see each other but not touch each other, which will give us time to get used to each other. And my friend Mary Ann suggested giving the cats come catnip to calm their nerves. See, I told you before that Mary Ann is a smart lady.

Sometimes Bob just needs a good, swift kick in the pants. He’s been going back and forth about whether or not we should move in with Alex and Caleb, and I finally just put my paw down. “Doggone it, Bob! I’m moving in with these guys,” I said “and if you know what’s good for you, you will too.” So, Bob finally told Alex that we would move in. Oh, we have to go back to Pittsburgh next week and collect our things there, but then we’ll drive back before the end of this month. Unlike Bob, Alex and Caleb are pretty self-sufficient, but I suspect they’ll need my help from time to time as well. That’s OK. That’s what I’m here for.
