DAY 364, Wednesday, 3/6/13

Every day we meet more nice people at work. Today we met a woman who works there as a psychiatrist, but the neatest thing about her is that she rescues dogs. She finds dogs that have been abandoned and takes them home. Right now she has 11 dogs that she’s taking care of. I think that’s really wonderful, don’t you?

Boy, it’s hard being the most popular guy in the office. This morning, we arrived at the office early, so Bob took me around without my vest on, which meant that the employees could pet me. I was surrounded by half a dozen lovely ladies who couldn’t get enough of me. Of course, I let them rub my belly ‘cuz I know how much they like that. By the end of the day, I was pooped from all the attention. It’s a tough job, but somebody’s gotta do it.

Now that Bob and I are working, our routine is pretty dull. We go to the office, we attend meetings, I do all I can to keep Bob out of trouble, and that’s pretty much it.

Bob went grocery shopping today and didn’t take me with him. His car broke down, and he had to take Tony’s. Now that Bob is working again, maybe he’ll make enough money to buy us a new car. I just hope it’s comfortable and big enough for me to stretch out in it.

Whew! I’m all tuckered out. Working 40 hours a week has really gotten to me. I’m used to napping whenever I want, but at the office, I have to stay alert all the time. I mean, after all, I can’t trust Bob to take care of himself, now can I?

Everybody at the office is so nice. Miranda even said that I should be the official mascot of the office. That was sweet of her, don’t you think?

Bob had to run an errand at lunchtime today, so we stopped at a fast-food burger place for lunch. I much prefer those places over the fancy restaurants because there’s a much greater likelihood of finding morsels of food on the floor. Bob tries to stop me from snapping up those little treats, but I’m way too fast for him.

I haven’t been getting enough affection lately, and most of the people at work understand that they’re not supposed to touch me when I have my service vest on, so this afternoon I had Bob remove the vest for about an hour so that people could pet me if they wished—and, of course, everyone wanted to do that. I still haven’t gotten enough attention, but that little reprieve helped.

We had several meetings at work today, including the Leadership Council. Bob thinks he’s such a hot shot because he got appointed to the Leadership Council. Nobody knows more about leading than I do, though. Just ask anybody who has a dog sled.

Ya know, I’ve been thinking: it’s a good thing that Bob and I didn’t take that assignment in Boston last week ‘cause if we had, there wouldn’t have been anybody around to take care of Tony when he fell on the ice. He’s barely able to manage with two legs, let alone only one. He’s doggone lucky to have me around to help him.

Yesterday, a bunch of people at work had a teleconference with some people in Phoenix. At one point, Bob noticed that some of the people across the room were smiling in our direction. At first, he wasn’t sure what to make of it, but then he looked up at the screen and realized that I had inched forward from my spot under the table until my head was sticking out. I just didn’t think it was right that everybody got to be on TV but me. After all, I’m much more photogenic than any of them.
