DAY 204, Friday, 9/28/12

I don’t know what’s come over Tony. He came home all giddy this afternoon. I haven’t seen him this happy since...well, since I adopted him and Bob. And this afternoon, Bob brought home more cardboard boxes. Hmmm.

Our buddy Rick came by this evening and went to dinner with Tony and Bob. When they came back, Rick got down on the floor and rubbed my belly a long time. I really, really like Rick.

I told you something’s going on. Tony came home today with a huge roll of bubble wrap and two roles of newsprint. Is he planning a party?

Some guy inside the big black box in the living room said today that the crickets are back, and it’s mating season. Heck, I could have told ‘em that.

Oh, boy! I think I’m in the proverbial dog house. This morning, when I was trying to roust Bob out of bed, I accidentally pulled one of Tony’s prized lamps off the night stand and broke the base. Well, it’s not my fault! They shouldn’t have left the cord where I could get tangled up in it.

So, Wayne went home today. I must admit that I’ll be glad to have Bob all to myself again, but I will miss Wayne. He pets nicely.

I’m not sure I like having Bob’s brother here. I mean, he’s nice, yeah, but Bob’s spending all of his time with Wayne instead of with me, and that’s just not right.

Wow! Can you believe it’s been 200 days since I adopted Tony and Bob? Time really flies when you’re having fun. Bob took Wayne up to the Texas Ranger Museum in Waco today, but they didn’t take me with them. Phooey! I’m sure that lots of Canines have worked with the Texas Rangers. They should have a whole wing of the museum devoted to them.

I found out that the guy we picked up at the airport in Austin is Bob’s brother--from a different litter. His name is Wayne, and I like him; he pets me.

Jeepers! I never knew that traveling could be so exhausting. All the four of us (Tony, Bob, Wayne, and me) ever did today was lie around and dream about catching crickets. Well, that’s what I dreamed about, so I just assume that they did too.

Jeez, another long day. It started off kind of strange. After breakfast, Bob took me to a building where we met some people sitting around a long table, but they weren’t eating, just talking. They welcomed us and started asking Bob a bunch of questions. It was pretty boring, so I just lay beside him and waiting for it to be over. Oh, don’t get me wrong: the people were nice, but who wants to be cooped up in an office building when you can be outside hunting crickets?

After lunch, we went back to the airport. Well, I did not want to climb those steep, narrow steps, so they to bring out a kind of elevator, and once they did, I got on the plane with no problems. As before, there wasn’t much leg room, but none of the people complained, and I certainly didn’t. I was a perfect angel. Bob later sent a text to Tony and told him that he could learn a lot from me.

Once we landed back in Austin, I was rarin’ to get home, but Bob said we had to hang around for about half an hour because we were meeting somebody. When we went around to pick him up, I found it a bit puzzling. I mean, he kinda looked like Bob and smelled like Bob, but it wasn’t Bob. I wonder if this guy and Bob could be litter mates.

More apartments today. Bob actually went back to one of them several times and walked away with a stack of papers. What the heck is going on?

Bob went to a lot of different places, including different restaurants, and each time I went with him. Naturally, I drew lots of stares, but that’s OK. I’m used to it by now. Pretty soon, I expect people will start asking for my autograph.

Oh, man. What a day! I’m exhausted! Bob got up around 3:00 a.m., and we left home at 5:30 for the Austin airport. We took two planes, and they were both smaller than the ones we flew on last week, so it was kind of cramped, but we managed. Just like last week, I didn’t make a single peep on either flight. There was a slight problem when we landed, though. The plane didn’t pull up to the terminal like all the others. Instead, everyone had to walk down the steps to the tarmac and then into the terminal. Well, once I got a look at those steep, narrow steps, I said “unh unh.” So, Bob and I had to back up and let everybody else off the plane. Then, we tried again, and that time, I made it down OK.

I don’t know where we ended up, but it was a lot cooler than Temple, and the people were very nice. Bob dragged me from one apartment building to another. Is he trying to tell me something? Hmmm.

Something dawned on me today: I noticed how many people smile when they see me. It’s really nice to be able to help people start their day with a smile.
