DAY 442, Friday, 5/24/13

Bob says we have a three-day weekend coming up. I’m not sure what that means, but it’s supposed to be a good thing. I’m hoping it means that we get to go outside and run and play a whole bunch, but knowing Bob, I suspect that it means we’ll just lie around the apartment for three days doing nothing.

Man, what a long day! Bob and I got up very early and went to the office. Then, we got in a car with two of our co-workers and drove four hours to a town near the Utah border. Now, you know how much I enjoy riding in the car, but that was a bit much, especially since there was not a drop of snow on the ground when we got there. On the plus side, we met some very nice people and the cutest little cockapoo. We only stayed a couple of hours before turning around and heading back. This time, we took what was supposed to be a shorter route, but much of it was dirt road and very bumpy. I couldn’t even take a nap. So, as you might expect, I’m gonna hit the sack the minute I finish this diary entry.

Oh, boy! Bob says that we’re going on a road trip tomorrow. He didn’t say where we’re going. “It’s a surprise,” he said. I hope it’s some place with lots of snow. Maybe we’re going to Siberia where I can visit my ancestral home—one of them anyway. Boy, wouldn’t that be sumthin’!

I got a special treat today, wet dog food. Of course, Bob only bought it so he could sneak my monthly medication into it without my knowing. He didn’t fool me; I knew it was in there, but I ate it anyway. Tomorrow, maybe I’ll slip something into his food. Arf, arf, arf!

I put a scare into Bob yesterday. At the picnic, someone dropped a chocolate chip cookie. Bob tried to keep me away from it, but I finally got the upper paw and snatched it up. Of course, Bob was worried that the chocolate might harm me, but so far, it hasn’t.

It was such a beautiful day today. Bob and I went out to the grassy “valley” out front and ran and played. Then, I foraged for little critters in the grass. They’re not crickets, but they’ll do.

Bob and I went to a picnic today. It was sponsored by an organization that we work with. There were about 35-40 people there, and, naturally, they all wanted to pet me. Well, I couldn’t disappoint them, could I?

Phooey! Bob went back to the conference today and didn’t take me with him. He said that I talk too much in the meetings. Can you believe that? HE said that I talk too much!

Well, as you might expect, I was the hit of the conference today. I was the opening speaker, so speak I did. I led off and then turned it over to Bob, who gave a fairly decent presentation. He closed by having Dr. Sara Gibson sing one of his songs while he signed it. It was a big hit too. Of course, that’s because Dr. Gibson has an amazing operatic voice. She sings even better than I do—if you can imagine that.

I went to the beauty shop today and got all gussied up. You see, tomorrow is the start of the big annual conference that our agency sponsors, and Bob and I are the opening speakers. Bob went to the beauty shop last Friday. Of course, it didn’t do much good, but that doesn’t really matter ‘cuz when we’re together, all eyes are on me anyway.

Wow! What a busy week at the office. This morning, Bob and I made a site visit to one of our providers, but most of the afternoon he left me alone in the office while he ran from meeting to meeting. I was not a happy camper. He and I are going to have to have a nice, long face to face over that.
