DAY 440, Wednesday, 5/22/13

Oh, boy! Bob says that we’re going on a road trip tomorrow. He didn’t say where we’re going. “It’s a surprise,” he said. I hope it’s some place with lots of snow. Maybe we’re going to Siberia where I can visit my ancestral home—one of them anyway. Boy, wouldn’t that be sumthin’!

I got a special treat today, wet dog food. Of course, Bob only bought it so he could sneak my monthly medication into it without my knowing. He didn’t fool me; I knew it was in there, but I ate it anyway. Tomorrow, maybe I’ll slip something into his food. Arf, arf, arf!

I put a scare into Bob yesterday. At the picnic, someone dropped a chocolate chip cookie. Bob tried to keep me away from it, but I finally got the upper paw and snatched it up. Of course, Bob was worried that the chocolate might harm me, but so far, it hasn’t.

It was such a beautiful day today. Bob and I went out to the grassy “valley” out front and ran and played. Then, I foraged for little critters in the grass. They’re not crickets, but they’ll do.

Bob and I went to a picnic today. It was sponsored by an organization that we work with. There were about 35-40 people there, and, naturally, they all wanted to pet me. Well, I couldn’t disappoint them, could I?

Phooey! Bob went back to the conference today and didn’t take me with him. He said that I talk too much in the meetings. Can you believe that? HE said that I talk too much!

Well, as you might expect, I was the hit of the conference today. I was the opening speaker, so speak I did. I led off and then turned it over to Bob, who gave a fairly decent presentation. He closed by having Dr. Sara Gibson sing one of his songs while he signed it. It was a big hit too. Of course, that’s because Dr. Gibson has an amazing operatic voice. She sings even better than I do—if you can imagine that.

I went to the beauty shop today and got all gussied up. You see, tomorrow is the start of the big annual conference that our agency sponsors, and Bob and I are the opening speakers. Bob went to the beauty shop last Friday. Of course, it didn’t do much good, but that doesn’t really matter ‘cuz when we’re together, all eyes are on me anyway.

Wow! What a busy week at the office. This morning, Bob and I made a site visit to one of our providers, but most of the afternoon he left me alone in the office while he ran from meeting to meeting. I was not a happy camper. He and I are going to have to have a nice, long face to face over that.

I missed writing in my diary yesterday because, frankly, my tummy wasn’t so good. You see, a few days ago, Tony and Bob had steaks for dinner. Now, they never give me any of their food, but just this once, Bob decided to give me his leftover steak bone. Of course, I’m not used to anything but my Blue Buffalo (and, of course, the stuff I dig up before Bob can stop me). Anyway, the long and short of it is that I got a little sick and kept Bob up all night. I’m a little better tonight; we’ll just have to see if it lasts.

Bob sometimes makes fun of me. This morning, for example, he laughed at me because when we started to go out for a walk, I went back to my corner and picked up my bone. Then, when I got back to the door, I decided to take the bone back to the corner and leave it behind. Then, I went back and forth several times, trying to decide whether or not to take it outside with me. Bob can laugh all he wants, but he doesn’t have big decisions to make like I do. Besides, I never laugh at him…well…not out loud anyway.
