I’ve been helping Bob prepare our income tax returns. Oh, yes, because I’m a service dog, all of the expenses associated with my maintenance are deductible: food, supplies, vet bills, etc. Of course, I’d be well worth it even if these expenses weren't deductible, but the way I see, the more we can save on our taxes, the more Bob can spend on treats for me.

I took Bob to the little park down the street today. I don’t think he’s been getting enough exercise lately, so we played a little game of tag. Guess who won. Hee hee.

The nice folks at Dogster have reminded me that today is a very special day. It’s my Gotcha Day, the second anniversary of the day that I adopted Bob (and Tony). In other words, it’s kinda like the day that Bob’s life started all over again. God only knows how he managed before I came along. Hmmm. How should I celebrate?

I think Bob may be a bit upset with me. He wanted to go check out a church today, so I said, “OK, let’s go.” He wasn’t sure if he should take me, but I could tell he really needed me today, so I insisted. Everything was cool at first. Naturally, everybody there fell in love with me instantly. When I started wagging my tail, Bob was afraid I would disturb the lady sitting in front of us, but she said she appreciated the breeze. I liked her.

Like I said, everything was cool, and when everybody stood up and started singing, I figured I was supposed to sing right along with them, so I did. They all thought it was hilarious, but Bob didn’t agree, so he took me outside. After a second attempt and a repeat performance of my virtuosity, he concluded that we had to leave. He says that my behavior was totally inappropriate for a service dog. Well, I gotta admit, he may have a point there. I guess I’ll have to work on that.

I’ve been getting along great with Caleb’s cat, Azazel. He’s my new BFF (best friend furever). A couple of times today, we actually rubbed each other’s noses.

Bob has been going out and leaving me home alone a lot lately. I’m not terribly happy about that. He needs to learn that he either has to stay home and pamper me or else take me with him so that other people can pamper me.

I guess Azazel (Caleb’s cat) and I freaked Caleb and Bob out today. I’ve been pretty good about leaving the cats alone, but this morning, I really wanted to play with them. Bob got so frustrated with me that he put me out in the garage. Later, though, he put me in the kitchen with the gate in place so I couldn’t get at the cats. Azazel walked up to the gate really close and just stared at me for quite a while, and you won’t believe what happened next. Azazel jumped over the gate into the kitchen where I was and casually strolled over to my food dish. And what did I do? Well, I just sat there like a perfect little gentleman and watched her pretty as you please. Caleb was so shocked, I thought he was gonna have a heart attack.

Apparently, today is what the Humans call “Fat Tuesday.” Don’t tell Bob. He’s fat enough as it is.

Well, Bob finally got off his duff and set out my beds. See, we had to leave them behind in Pennsylvania because Bob said there wasn’t enough room in the car for them. (I’ll withhold comment on that point.) However, my buddy Toland brought them with him when he passed through Flagstaff last week. Remember, we went up there and met him, and that’s when we got my beds back. I kept telling Bob to unpack them, but he said he wanted to wash them first. “Well, do it!” I said, and he finally did. So, I now have one bed in the living room and another one is my bedroom. (Don’t tell Bob; he thinks it’s HIS bedroom.)

Caleb and Bob got upset with me today, but it’s their fault. Remember the time I poked out the screen and jumped out the window? Well, today I went the other way; I poked through the screen and jumped into Caleb’s room from the outside. Like I said, though, it’s their fault. They never should have left me out on the patio on a rainy day. So, there!
