Arrival Story:
Darrell lived in Florida with a dear friend of mine. Sadly, she died and another friend and I traveled down to get Darrell and bring him up to NH to live with me. He is a great dog and has sired some really, really nice Frenchies over the years.

Bio:
Darrell has a history of escaping from almost ANY pen...as a result he lives in our boarding kennel in the cold weather and lives at my house in the warm weather as I have ONE "Summer" yard he cannot escape from. Being a social guy, when he does get free he heads up the hill to the veterinary clinic next door. He waits outside until a client opens the door, then he walks in with them. The receptionists ask about that clients new pet...when they find out it's Darrell, they give him a biscuit and call me!! Lukie, who is NOT related to Darrell, was the master at getting dog biscuits from the vets and must have taught Darrell how to follow in his footsteps after he passed on.

Mom -0, ME -5!!!

Mom was working today. The kennel was full so she wanted to start earlier and since Julia was here, she also had to get a 13 year old moving on a Sunday morning, BOL!
Well, Mom is also not as young as she used to be and she does tend to forget things more. She DID remember to bring Riley inside since he has been bugging Jethro lately, and she also remembered Toto so he wouldn't lick on Ali or Zena.
Well, a couple of HOURS later the first boarding clients came to pick up their dogs. The lady had a BIG, OLD, INCREDIBLY HANDSOME Frenchie with her when she came in the kennel door. Mom took ONE look and said, OMD!!!! She owned up to it being ME and stuffed me in a crate over there.
Then, she raced out the door to look for Riley. Fortunately, Julia reminded her that she had put him in his crate before she got very far, BOL!
After work we came home and I was put in my crate. Mom went outside to check what I had done... I dug UNDER the logs AND the expen AND the fence, hehehe!!! Mom spent a LONG time out there, with a shovel and some zip ties and lots of fencing.
Next time I went out I checked what she had done. She actually had the NERVE to bury the fence all along the ground!!! Now I will have to dig TWO FEET before I even get to the logs and then the expen and then the fence.
I suspect I will not be left out there long enough to even dig six inches under that fence, darn it all, however, stay tuned to see how I do!!!

Home again!!!!!

Mom owns a boarding kennel but...she is OLD now so she doesn't clean the boarding dogs very often...mostly the young girls that work for her do that.
Well, today there weren't that many boarding dogs and so Mom said she would do the kennel and the girls could have the weekend off. With my super hearing, I heard all this and decided to work it to my advantage, since, as you probably remember, I am stuck in this kennel since I dug out of the house yard once too often.
Mom came in to clean us this morning and she was SHOCKED at what she found in MY kennel! Frankly, I do NOT like being in that kennel and so I made LOTS of poopies in my run and then I jumped on them until it was all smooshy and then I jumped up on the walls and the gate and smeared it all around. Paw painting, I call it, BOL! Mom wants me to tell EVERYONE of you that I have NEVER peed OR pooped in her house OR in my crate in the house and I am ONLY a dirty dog in the kennel!!!!
Being not certain that would be enough to get me out of there, I also kept leaping and jumping and barking and carrying on the whole time Mom was in the kennel cleaning. I am not a young man, and I am a Frenchie so, of course, Mom was convinced I was gonna overheat and stroke out and die!!! Of course, with the AC in the kennel, it was only 68 degrees in there, but, I played it up as much as I could and kept panting and panting as well.
Sure enough, when Mom got to ME, she put a slip leash on me and marched me right home!!!
After she was done cleaning and feeding everyone (HEY, I just realized, I didn't get any breakfast!!!), she came home and spent a whole HOUR putting expens all along the fence line in our yard. THEN, she took a whole bunch of LOGS and rolled them up against the expens. She thinks that will make it so I can't dig out anymore, hehehe. We shall see!
We had a terrible thunderstorm this afternoon and after it was over Mom let us all out. I am not stupid...I know that wet ground is much softer and much easier to dig so I immediately raced out behind the chicken house and started digging. Mom was sitting on the porch and sure enough, I heard her yell, so I raced over and jumped on her with my dirty feet, hehehe!
Alas, I was totally unable to even budge the logs, much less get to the expen to dig thru that to get to the "real" fence to dig thru that. I shall try again tomorrow, but right now I am happy to be home in the quiet, calm house so I am not too interested in exploring!!

Uh oh, three strikes and I'm out...

We had a bit of a downpour whilst I was inside eating supper. When it stopped, Momsie let us all outside. Since I am soo super smart I realized the hard, dry dirt under the fence was probably now soft and easy to dig so dig I did.
About 7 or 8 minutes later Mom heard someone yell, and also heard someone knocking on the door. She went out to find two of the vets from the vet clinic next door. Seems they were outside on a break and they brought me home when I went up there visiting!
The problem was not me, however. It was Riley. Once again, he followed me out MY hole and he also went along up to the vet clinic with me. BUT, when they opened the door to let me in, Riley took off cuz he is a scaredy cat! He ran home to Mommy.
Anyway, they saw him run down in the back yard, but they couldn't find him. Mom knew EXACTLY where he was...the little brown noser once again went right back inside the hole I dug and he was pretending he never got out and went visiting, BOL! He was barking at the vets like he was supposed to be protecting HIS pen.
Mom says this is the final breakout... tomorrow morning I am headed over to the boarding kennel to spend the rest of the Summer, like I have EVERY other Summer since I came here. Mom figured there was hope for me this year since I now get along with all the other dogs here and we all go outside together.
I can't help myself...it is an obsession and obessions MUST be dealt with. Besides, I am the BEST at pretending I am not even checking out that fence every time Mom looks out the door to see what I am doing!
Mom keeps reminding me that the fence over at the kennel has TWO FEET buried under ground!!
