Every Summer Hilda usually comes and stays with me. I get very bored in my pen and, since I am not terribly friendly with other dogs I have to stay alone. Hilda is a female dog and a Frenchie, so she doesn't put up with any garbage from me so we get along fine.
Well, yesterday Laurie told Mom she was gonna keep Hilda home this Summer so Mom was trying and trying to think of someone for ME.
Well, this weekend my granddaughter, Lola came along to visit with Jethro and the rest of us. When she got here Mom plunked her in with me cuz it was easy. Suddenly, she remembered that Lola is also a female dog AND a Frenchie so she doesn't put up with my attempts to beat her up, either.
Sooo, Mom and Auntie Jeanne discussed the situation and it was decided that Lola would spend the Summer with me since Auntie Jeanne has to leave her in her kennel while she is at work and she doesn't have AC and Mom does have it here for us.
Whew, I was soo happy to hear that cuz I really didn't want to stay alone all Summer long. Now I have something to look forward to!

Ya know, us Frenchies don't have life in New Hampshire too good. There are NINE months of freezing cold Winter and three months of boiling hot Summer with a day or two of Spring and Fall tossed in, maybe.
Being Frenchies, we do not do cold weather cuz our noses are too short to effectively warm up that freezing air before it hits our lungs and gives us a huge ice cream lungache.
In the boiling hot weather, our short noses do not cool the air enough before it hits our lungs and gives us heat prostitution, or whatever that is!
During the Winter our short little legs also mean we have a really HARD time running thru the deep snow...it gets in our mouths and noses and eyes!
At any rate, in the Summer Mom has me and Hilda living in an indoor/outdoor pen with a HUGE air conditioner right inside so we mostly stay inside during the day. Sometimes, we may venture out at night, but usually there are moths and other bugs out, and once I even saw a SKUNK down in the lab pen. Imagine that, a SKUNK right next to our pen!!!
Fortunately, on the not so hot days, unlike today when it is 95 degrees, we have nice, cool shade in our outside pen so we can lie around and see the sights, if we chose. It is pretty nice, well, it is IF Hilda is here with me, but if she is at her other home with Laurie, I get terribly bored.
I am happy to say my missing eye healed up with no issues at all, and I must say, I am much, much more handsome than either Harvey or Barney. MY face is black and it is almost impossible to tell I even have a missing eye. Besides that, my face is flat so it doesn't show from the sides, either.
I know Mother hasn't been very good about putting any new photos on MY page, but she is blaming it all on the heat...she says we can't run around in the lab pen because it is too hot so she can't get any new photos. I am not sure why she can't take one of us lying in our beds in front of the air conditioner???

I am feeling pretty neglected here lately. Hilda went over to visit Laurie and Drew for a few days cuz it was raining and she doesn't sit outside and bark when it's raining, BOL!
NONE of the other dogs like me cuz I like to get in fights with the boys and the girls are all scared of me cuz I chase them around a bit. Nothin' serious, just a little keep em in line chasing. Hilda understands me and she just stops running when I chase her.
So, meanwhile, I am keeping myself occupied in my little indoor/outdoor pen by racing out the door and chasing the chickens when they get too comfy. It works, they all flap their wings and squawk like crazy...makes me feel important even though I know I can't ever catch one since they are in their pen and I am in mine!!
Just now I almost got to chase the cats...Mom was feeding us and she spent too long with my door open so I raced out and did a run thru the house to see if I could find any available kitties. Sadly, they were all outside in the Summer kitchen and I suddenly remembered I left my dinner for that, silly me!!! Fortunately, Mom just waiting since she knew my stomach was way, way more important to me than chasing those kitties!!!
Hopefully, Laurie will bring Hilda back on Tuesday...I miss her!!!

Hey, Mom told me that my kid, Louie, is coming to spend the weekend camping down in OUR dog yard! Fortunately, she invited me and Hilda to come along as well. Gee, I hope I get to sleep in the tent!!!!
Meanwhile, I am all healed up from my two surgeries, BUT, I hurt my leg a bit. Mom thinks Hilda pushed me off the ramp, but I'm not telling. If I tell, Hilda will REALLY beat me up, BOL!
Anyway, I will sure keep you all posted with my jibberish as well as some nice photos of our weekend. Perhaps I shall even go kayaking, if it's not too hot. That could be fun, I guess???

Mom and my son Louie's Mom have been discussing camping again. Well, my Mom realized it is still VERY EARLY in the Spring for overnight camping trips to the White Mtn's. There could still be SNOW up there!! Besides, if they go there most of us dogs can't go cuz spoiled Beanie and Toto will have to go.
Soo, they have decided that the first overnight trip will be overnight in OUR pen!!! I am thrilled since that means I will get to visit with my dear Son, Louie! And, Lola and Hilda will be here, too, so we can ALL play together (assuming, I don't pull a Frenchie and fight with Louie, hehehe!)
If it is too cold then they can all run up and sleep in Mom's house. AND, they can go kayaking in the regular pond nearby and hiking on Mt. Ascutney which is famous for being the tallest single peak (not in a range) in New England, maybe even more than New England, Mom isn't sure.
Mom says she might be too old to go camping this Summer, but, if they camp here she will find out, hehehe! And, she won't have to pay anyone to come take care of us dogs cuz she will be here!!!
I am looking forward to it, only three more weeks to wait!!!

Tonight right before dinner Mom put me on the kitchen table. This is nice, I am eating at the table tonight????
Nope, I should have known. She comes at me with a tiny pair of pointed, really sharp scissors. Of course I squirmed away, she just put me in a choke hold (that is what it's called when they wrap their arm around your neck and pin your head to their chest, right??) I think it must be a choke hold cuz every time I tried to move, she choked me, BOL!
Anyway, I really didn't mind the little snip, snip, snip. BUT, before she snipped them, she had to pull them really hard to find the place to snip. NOT FAIR!!!
And, after each one was snipped, she had to pull it out. Those stitches were REALLY LONG!!! Do you know how bad it feels to have them ripped out of your face???
Finally, she got the last and worst one. It was the one right up in the corner of my eye, right next to my nose. Talk about pulling, she YANKED that one right out! I was expecting my nose to follow it out the hole.
Next, she put some soft, ointment stuff on the scar to soften the part that was stuck around the stitches. That actually felt pretty good, except it smelled bad so I tried to rub it off. OUCH... bad idea.
Ya know, I would have MUCH perferred to go up to the vets for the stitch removal... I would have had one nice person hold my front, one nice person hold my head, one nice person hold my body and the nice vet snip the sutures. Instead, I got Mom, and she was all sweaty and smelly cuz she did them AFTER she mowed the lawn. BOOOOOOO!

Mom took me up to visit the vets again today cuz I was supposed to have my stitches out. Notice I said supposed to? Yup... the nice vet decided that it would be better to leave them a few more days.
BUT, she was VERY HAPPY with how it looks, well, except for the place where Hilda got in a huff and bit me, BOL! She really just scraped the swollen part from the stitches so it was okay.
Mom actually had forgotten that I also had my other balls removed along with my eye ball. She hadn't even checked my incision!!! Fortunately, that looked very, very good as well.
The vet told Mom she could remove my stitches on Friday. Gosh darn it all, I wanted to go back up there and see all those nice people. When I go there they all come running out back and everyone loves on me. It is sooo nice that I just run from person to person soaking it all up.
I will miss that cuz Mom will just stick me on a table, have Tonya or Sarah or Julie hold my head and snip, snip, snip, they will be gone. No extra loving nor nuthin!!!!!

I just spent almost an hour composing and typing a nice diary entry and suddenly, the screen went blue, then black and everything was GONE!
Well, I AM NOT writing all that again...here is a brief synopsis:
Since my eye is much better Mom put me and Hilda back in the in/out pen and we are happy. I am NOT wearing the e-collar since I realize how uncomfortable it is so I stopped rubbing my wound.
Mom took us down in the lab pen today, I have two new photos.
That's it, BYE!

Wow, Mom is very surprised. This morning I was sitting in my crate, howling for my breakfast!!! Fortunately, she DID feed me, then we went off to work. Laurie was there so I got plenty of sympathy!
First Mom cut that HUGE bandage off my head...that was really nice of her since it was bugging me! But, next thing I knew, she put a huge, plastic lampshade over my head and tied it around my neck! That is a TERRIBLE injustice, let me tell you!!
Fortunately, Laurie has one of those soft ones at home, and even more fortunate, she works tomorrow so she will bring it for me. Mom put me in an expen right next to the daycare dogs. What a cool place to spend the day!
First, I had to bark and bark and bark cuz there was a cat wandering around loose...I needed to make sure everyone knew he was loose and not in his cage. No one seemed too concerned, they just told me to stop! Did I mention, on my way thru the house this morning I did manage to get ahold of Paisley but she spit at me and I dropped her, darn it all!
Anyway, after the cat episode, I discovered some baby birds, BIG baby birds, in some boxes over in the corner of the room. Once again, I had to yell really loudly so the girls knew they were there. Once again, they told me to be quiet!
After that, Sarah was running the vacuum cleaner...of COURSE, I needed to bark and bark and bark at that, BOL! Worst of all, she vacuumed everything, even the chain link fences! Man, I was getting tired of barking!
Then, Julie came along so I got MORE sympathy... I had to squint my good eye so she would feel sorry for me, it worked and she gave me some biscuits!
After lunch (did I mention I got to have lunch with the girls???), I was pretty tired so I took a short nap before barking somemore.
Around four o'clock I did start getting a BIG headache. Mom said my eye socket was getting pretty swollen and my pain meds must be wearing off. Yup, they were!
She took me home and, believe it or not, it was time for supper!!! And, for supper Mom took off that stupid lampshade so I could enjoy it more. I am pretty sure there were a few pills in there, but nevermind, I was VERY hungry!! Best of all, I got to go outside for a LONG time and sniff all the smells in the big yard. I usually only go in the side yard so it was pretty neat! And, she left the lampshade off, but she was watching me with her eagle eyes!!!!
All in all, it was a pretty good day, considering I had all that surgery yesterday!
HEY, Mom just changed my diary title to Jonesy's Jibberish. I looked up Jibberish and it means words that have no meaning. Nice Mom, huh?
