Arrival Story:
I was fostering Sasha for weight gain - she only weighed 74 pounds. After fostering her for 3 months and several trips to a private vet and the shelter I was fostering through, I was told that she wouldn't have a good quality of life and that she wasn't adoptable because of hip dysplasia, luxating patellas and torn acl's. I was so upset - she seemed like such a happy dog despite her physical problems. I talked to the vet about alternatives to surgery. He said that surgery would not guarantee improvement and with anti-inflammatory medication and glucosamine, we could maintain her pain. So, I went home with Sasha, and the knowledge that she could live a quality life, and waited for the shelter to tell me that I could adopt her. She was with me one year in October 2004. And, aside from a bout of heartworms (which she contracted before I got her) she is doing well, and weighs 102 pounds.

Last Thursday, the fire alarm in our building went off. It's pretty loud, but I was in bed, and comfortable. Plus, I was snoring so loud, it kinda drowned out the alarm. My Mommy woke right up and went outside to make sure it was just a false alarm. Then, to be safe, she came back, woke me up and took me outside. I barked at people when they opened their doors, did my business, then just sat next to my Mommy while she talked to our neighbor, Angel. I was really tired and couldn't wait to get back to bed - I need my beauty sleep. Fortunately, it was just a false alarm, but my Mommy wanted to know why I didn't bark or move.

Yesterday morning I had trouble waking up, but it turned out to be worth it. I met a new dog - Zeus. He's an English Lab. He may be plump, but that just means there's more of him to love.

After I did my business, I ran into my boyfriend, Nico, who has 3 legs. I LOVE him. He doesn't mind that I drool. I don't mind that he has 3 legs. We're a good match.
