Arrival Story:
Shadow was adopted from Bistineau Paws Puppy Rescue. She was the last puppy that a breeder couldnt get rid of and the breeder was going to take her to a shelter.Sadly the shelter had an outbreak of parvo and exposed pups were scheduled to be put down,so the rescue intervened before the breeder could bring Shadow anywhere near the shelter. A friend who works in the rescue let us know about her. We'd been looking for a large breed dog that could go well with our pack and Shadow fit the bill,so now she is settling in with our family.

Bio:
Shadow is growing into a stable, well mannered young dog.She is gentle with everyone, especially children.Sometimes a bit shy,but warms up quickly after sniffing you over.True to her breed she is smart as a whip, learning commands as fast as I can teach them and picking up on the meaning of a few different phrases. She's a great watchdog as well, very good at discerning who/what belongs and what doesn't ...If somethings up or someone who isn't supposed to be there invades her territory, she is quick to let you know.Because of her excellent temperament, good manners and training our friends in the rescue community think she could make a great ambassador for rescue dogs. All in all couldn't have ended up with a better dog. :)

Shadow's first Halloween

Well as the evening draws to a close,I can safely say Shadow has proven herself well and i'm very pleased. Her first time trick-or-treating with me and the little bros was a big success. She was a little scared at first, but then she saw how much fun everyone was having and seemed eager to head out.

The costumes, the other dogs, the kids screaming and running around, some wanting to pet her (though most keep their distance, mistaking her for a Pit Bull). She took it all in stride, waiting patiently as we received our candy and showing her best manners towards the other children. We walked proud as we saw others who had brought their dogs out get dragged from house to house, nearly knocking people over as they charged through. I couldn't help laughing,my usually hyper teenage pup was acting like a champ and some adults (even a few seniors, saw some grey muzzled mutts this evening) were acting insane. Maybe it was the massive full moon that was out tonight that caused it? :P

Whatever the reason, she did extremely well. Hopefully she can keep it through the rest of the upcoming holidays. ^.^
