Arrival Story: Calla is a 3 year old boxer mix. We think she may be mixed with red heeler, but she definitely has a lot of boxer in her. It shows in her personality, and now that she is on a nutritious diet, it is starting to show in her coat quality. When she came into rescue, she had the coarse coat of a dog used to living outside, but she is developing a sleeker coat and becoming more beautiful each day.
Calla is sweet, energetic and loves to play with a canine companion. She loves dogs big and small. We are not sure how she would do around cats. She is housebroken and currently has access to a doggy door, so we don't how she is in a crate yet.
Calla loves chew toys and needs a family that will give her lots of opportunities to play. She is great on a leash and would make an excellent running partner. She will do well with older children due to her energy level and size. Calla is heartworm positive and will be undergoing treatment very soon. Her foster mom describes her as "lovely". She will make a great addition to an active family.
