Arrival Story: I started work at a shelter in April of 2011 and that was when I first laid eyes on Sophia! I wanted her from the beginning. Unfortunately, she had already been adopted but since she had many medical issues she could not go home until they were under control. She came to the shelter from another high kill shelter in Kentucky where her previous owner was arrested for dealing drugs among other things. We told her adoptive father over and over that she would be a ton of work and would be on meds her entire life and he said he was okay with that. She went home in May finally. I went to Florida and came back to see her again! I was sad she was brought back, but happy to see her face. Of course, the man who adopted her said she was "too much maintenance." She was there for about a week and she was obviously miserable so my boyfriend and I decided to foster her. That foster lasted about an hour before we decided to officially adopt her. We didn't wanna take our chances with losing her! She's now off of all of her meds and just needs a bath once a wink and of course those wrinkles cleaned daily.
