May 8

Got up this morning after our daily routine we went to the central office meeting, out to lunch with Ms Donna and he did great, then home to get BooBoo and took the two to get a day a the doggie spa. Thad looks so cute with all his hair shaved the only thing I did not have cut was ears and tail. I ordered Working Like Dogs the other day to complement the other SD book I got for training. We also worked on sits, downs, stays, and comes when called.

May 3

Went to PetSmart this morning for our first Intermediate call where we worked on come when called at 20ft and forwards, Thaddeus is still freaking a little bit from being that far away. We also reviewed on leave its, downs, sits, drop its and watch me. When we came home I slept for a while cause did not sleep last night then went and practice come when called and forwards. I think leave it and drop its we will work on before bed time.

May 2

Took Thad out on leash after he ate and he used it both ways for me on leash. We worked on sit, down, stand, come, front and forward. He did real good at everything we worked on today. Need to work on drop it later today.

May 1

Thadeus and I ventured to the vets today to get heartworm and fea/tick meds then went to PetSmart to get him a grooming appt and BooBoo nail/ear appt. We decided to sign up for the intermediate class for Thad so we could go over sit stays, down stays, place, come when called and work on distracts better. I kind of like the way PetSmart teaches better but want to get into the beginners class at Red River Obedience because when you are half way through the class you can join the center and have all the practice time you want with your dog. Plus there are some classes I want to take after I have him take his CGC. He could probably pass now but I want him to be able to pass mine, my standards are tough he is a service dog after all.
Today we worked on sits and we had a doggie door put in and even though he has never used it anywhere but the grass we are out of practice on use it on command. That still needs work. watch mes, and sit are good he sometimes get lost on downs only at home around other dogs but it is still furstating.
I went to a therapy appointment and my therapist son has a SD also so we introduced them and let them hang out for a little while. It was so funny Thad is a SP and loves water and she has a fish pond in her back yard and Thad decided he would go swimming:)

April 27

Went to our last puppy class again at Red River and they said since he has already taken 2 puppy classes and is calm and knows all the commands he might be ok to go to beginners class a month early. Cool because I want to get him on to being further trained before he thinks its ok to socialize always with other dogs he sees.

April 24

We were out in town to at the bank and earlier we worked on stay while sitting and laying down. We also worked on leave its from a bowl of food.

April 18

Went for a walk this morning around the street over from me back around to my street. Worked on heeling and sitting at heel and side=right side around to heel on left.

April 15

Worked on leave its and place. He did good on the leave its till I had him lay in the middle of the treats then after a little of not he finally ate what I asked him to leave. I will keep working on that. Also worked on the come when called with hand signals and stay till told to come with hand signals. He is doing very well with those and just can get better with the distance. He also does well on the halt and sit when in a heel and lays well too. Still working on place he would probably get a 4 out of 10 on that.

April 13

Went to my dog training class tonight and learned downs at heels and turn abouts which is going the other direction while keeping your dog on your left side. practiced this morning on the heeling and sitting when halted or stopped.

April 12

Boy have I gotten lazy. LOL I have not written down any of the training I have done this week. We have not left the house this week but have been working on heeling. I got some hotdogs last week from the store and Thad seems to think they are gold so he is working real hard on this right now. We have class tomorrow so we will see if he has gotten any better.
