from bed to kitchen in search of food

"swimming", speaking, shaking (yes, even an old basset can do these things!)
Arrival Story:
I got Rusty Paws thirdhand. His original owner had to sell him, and the second family really just wanted a bulldog. I saw the ad in the paper Super Bowl Saturday 1991 and the rest is history! Best $125 I ever spent :)
Bio:
Rusty has traveled and lived all over the USA as his Daddy is in the US Army. He used to be a very dark mahogany and white but now has faded to just white. 3 years ago he was paralyzed 2 days after his Daddy went to fight in Afghanistan, but he has since re-learned to walk, and on March 6, 2002, he had the honor of having his youngest 2-legged sibling named after him. Some might think it odd to name a child after a dog, but not us!
Sadly, Rusty Paws passed away very suddenly on Sept 30, 2005. He died in my arms on his own--he spared me from having to make the decision to put him out of any misery. He had been the picture of health--or at least he acted that way. He was 15 years, 6 months and 20 days old--very old for a basset. We miss him very very much. My sister said I gave him a wonderful , wonderful life. Truth is, a wonderful, wonderful life is what he gave ME. Sleep in peace, my Grand Old Man.
