Arrival Story:
We bought Jake just before he was 2 years old. He was a pup of a well known show dog, and had been in shows as a puppy, but turned out to be a little small for shows. We lived in a horrid neighborhood, and we bought him to protection train for our family. He went through all of his training, and was the best guard dog ever, but also became known to everyone for his gentle nature. He loved everyone and everything, (Except his trainer, Bud!) unless he thought his family was in trouble or he was given a command. He was the first one to jump up to see what was wrong when the babies were crying, and kept Grandmothers feet warm wherever she sat. He never met a cat, mouse, or squirrel he didn't like.

Bio:
Jake lived with us for 9 more years. He moved with us 3 times. He had been my kids favorite thing to take to show-and-tell. He never complained, or growled at a child. If the handling became too rough, he would just get up and walk away. Jake became sick in the summer of 2004. It was just little things, but we could tell something was wrong. I took him to the vet who said maybe he was anemic, and took some blood work. He told me he would be fine. I knew he wouldn't. The blood work came back not specifying anything, so they took an xray. Vet said something looked off, but it was probably nothing. I told him I knew this was not 'nothing'. Then the vet suggested an ultrasound. The ultrasound was done a couple of days later, and the verdict was in.... Jake had Cancer. He was eat up with it. Many, many places. Only thing to do was medicate him, and make him happy. He gave my Jake six weeks. He lived just two. Bless his heart, he never complained. We miss him terribly. There will never be another one like him. He would have loved our new dog Yogi. Rest in Peace, my boy.
