Arrival Story:
My mongrel Moo was signed over by her owners to the rescue I was working in, she was 12 years old. She was in a terrible condition, half her ideal body weight, disgusting teeth, short, dry, dull coat & she had a large malignant mammary tumour. We removed the tumour, neutered her, gave her a dental & sent her out on foster as she wasn't happy in kennels. As if all that wasn't bad enough, the afternoon her foster "carer" brought her back to have her stitches removed we found she had suffered a burn on her back. This had been left untreated & the foster "carer" stated she hadn't even noticed, it was a large burn & had happened at least 2-3 days previously, she had to have surgery to remove the dead & dying tissue across her back. She must have been in so much pain, I took a call from the fosterer asking if Moo could go back to her. I was so angry I had to pass the phone over to someone else as I think I would have said something I shouldn't have. From the day she came back from the fosterer I knew I'd be taking her home. I have now had her for 2 years, she is a fantastic dog, really happy & active. She looks so good now that people in the park ask if she is a puppy (she is now 14). Oh & be rest assured that the foster "carer" is no longer allowed to foster with that rescue, though sadly I do not know if she has offered her services to any other rescues.
