Quick Bio:
-purebred-dog rescue

Likes:
Passive Activities (is that an oxymoron?); napping, sleeping, light snoozing, chewing on shoes

Pet-Peeves:
Do not chase me! I startle easily and it isn't pretty. And loud noises make me wanna hide.

Favorite Toy:
The other dogs in the house and shoes and pillows and stuffed animals

Favorite Food:
What ISN'T my favorite food is a shorter list.

Favorite Walk:
Anywhere but busy streets. Cars and trucks are not to be trusted. I've forced my family to take a new walking route since my arrival.

Best Tricks:
Again, napping, sleeping or light snoozing in no particular order and CHEWING SHOES!!!

Arrival Story:
We thought we may want to add to our K-9 family (okay, only me but who can resist?) and found a local Great Dane rescue, Great Dane LifeLine in the St. Louis area. We took Nana with us to meet Olive at her foster home. Nana would be the litmus test to any new additions. Nana had a prior altercation with a Dane named Xena (the name should have told us what to expect) that left Nana Xena-phobic (HA! That was good!) Anyway, Olive and Nana were fine. We brought her to the house where she promptly ignored the cat, buddied up with Sherman and laid claim to THE CHAIR.

Bio:
Olive was found wandering the streets in the Ozarks, MO with another Dane and a Dane puppy, assumably hers. We guess she was a puppy mill producer that was cast to the streets with her mate and baby, or they made a dramatic breakout, a la "Chicken Run." She was very timid and shy but soon broke out of her shell when she figured out we control the food supply and the leashes. She has made attempts to sleep in the bed which have proven unsuccessful. The bed is "Nana Territory" not to mention it is made for human-size forms, not Grimm's Fairy Tale-size giants. She has adjusted to the dog bed on the floor and the living room chair. The rocking lounger scared the crap out of her when she tried to jump in it. She is so mellow but gets bursts of energy and she runs in the yard with the grace of a Thoroughbred horse. She is beee-yoo-tee-ful!

Forums Motto:
Quiet please. I'm sleeping.

School Daze

I went to school yesterday. Hated it. A short snotty dog growled at me. There is a brown dog that doesn't shut up. The teacher lady took me in front of the class and I got scared and put my brakes on. All of us had to get in a "position" and I refused. I dropped to the floor and layed there. My tail was tightly tucked between my legs and I wouldn't do anything. I hate that place.

Dad stopped at his gym so that I could meet my dog sitter, Emily. She is cute, smells nice and likes to pet me. But I didn't like being there either. I kept trying to bolt to the door and get back in my car. I pushed up against my dad a lot and kept my tail between my legs.

Then he took me to the Wag n' Wash. How much abuse can he dish out in a day? All these strange places all in one day! He chained me to a faucet, hosed me down and put soap all over me. I am NOT a dirty dog. I am beautiful and I resent any comments to the contrary. It was totally uncalled for.

We got home and I was so relieved! Nana and Sherman sniffed me all over. I was wagging my tail and running around. My Yard! My House! I never want to leave again!

Dad said we are going back to school next week. I'm going to eat all of his shoes and poop in his car.

My Buddy Ralphie

The Dads were laying around the house a lot on Sunday. They slept in later than usual and didn't talk much. What's a hangover?

So they had some friends come over that I had never seen before. I liked all of them. They were very nice and they brought me presents. Nana and Sherman barked and barked and barked. Why do they have to do that? The bi-peds are standing there petting us and playing with us and talking to us and those two are all "Bark Bark Bark Bark Bark!!!" What's the point?

Then I got to meet this short little squatty dog named Ralphie that came with two of the bi-peds. He was GREAT! He loves to mouth wrestle and jump and kick and hump. I loved playing with him. He never gave up. I stayed low to the ground because I am such a statuesque beauty and I didn't want to scare him. We could have played all day and night. We were wiped out.

The bi-peds all promised to make a playdate for us. I don't know what that is (but I know what a bi-ped is???). I can't wait to see him again.

Nana and Sherman need to get a hangover. Maybe that will quiet them.

Dad took me to the vet today and put me on that scary thing they call "the scale." I totally go limp when he lifts me onto that. I hate it. He and the vet office lady were both surprised that I'd lost a few pounds. Six to be exact. I've been doing South Beach. No carbs. All protein. Dad didn't like it. He wanted to lose the six pounds and put about 10 more on me. Whatever. Then stop eating five pound Hershey bars every day. And just 'cause it is your birthday doesn't mean you eat one whole cake for every year of your life!

Now about that rich thing. When does that happen?

Stay tuned.
