Leave a bone for Scarlett (May 2004- Aug. 2005)

Nicknames: Briarbrook's Miss Scarlett Oh My!(registered name... I think?) Scurrlett, Miss Scarlett, Princess Scarlett, The Shiba, Her Majesty, Underpants Gnome

Quick Bio:
 Birthday: May 5th 2004
Likes: chewing on things, snow, Dot (her kitty)

Pet-Peeves: Having to lift a paw. We are not amused.

Favorite Toy: Dot (the cat)

Favorite Food: only the finest for Miss Scarlett; it's not good unless it comes from the table or off of the counter via Dot (Scarlett's kitty)

Favorite Walk: anywhere she could get off the leash like a naughty girl!

Best Tricks: Scarlett didn't do "tricks". But she had a strange knack for finding underwear anywhere in the house, no matter where, and ripping it up.

Arrival Story: This is more a story of Scarlett's death. She did not die in a tragic accident, instead we miss our puppy because of possible careless breeding. Our vet believed Scarlett began suffering from advanced dimentia about 4 weeks before she had to be put down. In her weakened state, Scarlett attacked a 6-year-old girl and bit her several times. Luckily, she was not seriously injured (and we will not face legal action), but when Scarlett lunged at another child a few days later we knew it was time to make a difficult decision. Dimentia is common in older dogs; in young dogs it can be a sign of inbreeding. PLEASE keep your family and your dog safe by SERIOUSLY researching your breeder; a task we may not have done well enough. We lost a precious, intelligent, beautiful soul; possibly because of someone else's greed or carelessness. PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT AT ALL A CHARACTERISTIC TRAIT OF SHIBAS!!! If you are researching Shibas, they are beautiful, fantastic dogs, and NOT known for being prone to early insanity. Please take Scarlett's lesson to heart. She was still a puppy. We miss her terribly and her beautiful spirit will be what we choose to remember, instead of the vicious, terrified dog she became.

Bio: Scarlett was a resident of Manchester Center, VT. When Scarlett was alive, she could tell within moments that she was just too fabulous for the likes of you. Before you get upset, remember that she was a Shiba through and through, and "Shibas are like that."
