 Quick Bio:
 Gotcha Date: February 4th 2012
 Birthday: April 1st 2011
Likes: To cuddle. She loves to sit on laps.

Pet-Peeves: Being left alone.

Favorite Food: Natural Balance lamb chub cut into tiny cubes.

Favorite Walk: For Emma, there is no place like home.

Best Tricks: Emma jumps up on the dining room chairs and curls up.

Arrival Story: Emma was spotted playing with a piece of ribbon near a freeway entrance. Lucky for her, someone left her some food and put out the word that this little one needed help. Another volunteer came to her rescue and safely took her into custody. See the video here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vy7 4d39Bja0
She flourished in foster care. Emma is a cute little girl who endured a rough start to life. Many people have stepped up to get her into a safe place and get medical care.

Bio: Saturday morning a family came by to see Emma. They brought their dog, Georgie, a much larger dog that was also young, like Emma. We introduced them carefully on a walk, and then brought them into the yard to play. It took a little while, but when I brought out the fox skinny for them to play with, they went nuts. They played chase, raced to fetch, teased and played and romped. Emma started running in joyful circles. It was beautiful to see. I have 3 dogs and she had not played with them with this kind of joy and abandon. I knew I had to let her go.
I am so happy for her. Here in LA there are hundreds if not thousands of Chihuahuas in the shelters, and many are not going to make it out. Finding a good home for a dog nowadays is tough. Emma beat the odds. She is a special little dog and I know she is going to have a lifetime of doggie play and a loving family. Go Emma!

Disposition: Emma has an amazingly sweet disposition. She loves human company
and will follow me anywhere, even into the shower! She loved the water and was a doll about getting clean and dried. She wants to be as close as possible. She is sitting on my lap as I type this. It is clear that she craves affection. I have yet to see her wag her tail but know it's coming soon. She is very grateful to have a home and be safe and warm. My own chihuahua has barked at her, but she handles him and my other dogs calmly, just ignoring them. They are all getting along and co-existing quite peacefully. Emma is not a barker and is very quiet and calm in a crate. In the car she curls up in a ball and sits on your lap. At night she prefers to sleep in bed with her human, burrowing herself underneath the blankets.
Good looks: Emma is a beautiful chihuahua mix. She is gorgeous and healthy. She is trim, but muscular at 7.5 lbs. Her coat is a rich reddish tan and is in great condition. She has sturdy legs, a deer-like head and huge ears. Her dark markings near her nose and big brown make her face seem lovely and expressive.
Training: Emma acts as if she has not been in a home before. She figured out the doggie door immediately, clever girl. She explored the yard and the entire house curiously. Then she jumped up on a chair and stayed there all night. She does not seem to have any destructive behaviors. Emma has lovely manners and waits for treats politely. She does not seem to have any training or know any tricks. She is learning to come when called. She seems smart and trainable.
Medical: Emma is spayed, up to date on shots, microchipped, and healthy.
