Dutchess has found the toy box and is having a good time. She loves to destuff and desquesk toys. She is a girl on a mission to destroy all the toys. She also LOVES clothes.

Barking Chihuahuas and the mail man and his truck.

Favorite Toy:
All of them so far. Soft squeaky toys that need destuffing and desqueaking.

Favorite Walk:
A hike in the woods where there are all kind of things to smell ... and roll in.

Arrival Story:
Dutchess has just joined our family and we are so excited. Now Pippi will have a sister about her size, too. She just prances about especially when you say we are going outside or when we get outside.

Dutchess went from having three kitty siblings to three dog and two kitty sisters. Patches (22 year old cat) took to Dutchess right away, rubbing against her as soon as she met her. Patches also likes Dutchess' bed. Pippi and Dutchess have been zooming around the house together. Let's just hope Pippi doesn't teach Dutchess any bad habits. Dutchess is such a sweetheart!

A Note About Nicknames

Mom was going through and adding a few long over due updates to some of our pages. Among the updates was adding my nicknames - Ladybug, Prancy Pants, Jingle Bells, Hostess. Now, to someone who doesn't know me and is looking at my name, Dutchess, they may wonder about these nicknames. So I thought I would just tell you how I got them all.

I'll start with Hostess, because I got that one first. When I first came to live with my family grandma couldn't seem to remember my name at all. None of us can figure out why, or where she came up with it, but she kept calling me Hostess. Well that stuck. For a while grandpa called me Ding Dong. It's more of a complement then it sounds. You see he loves Hostess Ding Dongs. They are one of his favorite snacks. And since grandma was calling me Hostess, he figured he would take it one step further and call me Ding Dong.

The next nickname was Jingle Bells. This came from the bell I used to wear on my collar when I get to go off leash on hikes. That was so if I wondered off a little too far mom would hear the bell and know which direction to look for me. I tend to like to get behind (hey, I like to take time to stop and smell ... well, everything) and then mom says, "Come on Jingle Bells." and I come running to catch up, making that bell jingle. Even though I don't wear the bell any more she still says that. Guess my tags on my collar make a little jingling noise.

I got the nickname Prancy Pants for two reasons. First is for the way I prance around once I get some clothes on. I LOVE clothes. Really! Not fibbing here. When mom starts pulling clothes out of the drawer, buddy I am first in line! In fact, I try to push the others out of the way and get in line more than once. And when I get fancy clothes on, I prance even more. The other reason if for the way I prance my feet when it's time to eat. More than once I have knocked the food bowl out of mom's hand as she was trying to set it down, sending food flying everywhere! Now when she brings my bowl over she tends to say, "Get those prancy pants feet down." Hehe.

Ladybug is what mom calls me most of the time. Not sure how that one came about. Just one of those things. I guess because I am a Lady you know. And the bug part? Well, Cheeky and Pixie have much used nicknames with Bug in them. So why not?

So there you have it. An explanation of my nicknames.

18-Jan-2013 -- Springbrook Park and Grandma's House

This day just keeps getting better and better. I DID get to go on the walk today. And better yet, I got to be the only one who went. Actually I don't really care if the others come or not. I just like to get out and go! The sun came out and melted most of the snow, but because of the slushy snow and all the rain we have had lately it was kind of muddy and soggy. You should see the waterproof hoodie Mom made for me. Mud covered. Hehe.

After the walk I got to go to Grandma's house again. When we got inside there was this great sunny spot on the floor in the kitchen. My feet were still a little cold from the walk. So I plopped myself down and soaked up a lot of warm sunshine. In fact I took a nap there. Great spot for a nap.

Last night I kept trying to take over Mom's pillow in the bed. I tried to point out that she was hogging it. She kept moving me for some reason. Tonight I am napping with my head on the cat's pillow. Everyone has a pillow but me. That's it. I need a pillow for my head!

18-Jan-2013 -- Daily Diary Pick -- And SNOW!

I just found out I am one of today's Daily Diary Picks. How exciting! Mom said she hopes this doesn't go to my head because I already have some attitude sometimes. Especially when I kick my back legs. You can tell I mean business. Serious business. I also have this look to go with the kick. But that is all for another entry.

Yesterday we got some snow. Now not much, and what we did get was pretty slushy, but we were still excited. Mom quickly made Pippi and I some waterproof hoodies since it was still coming down, plus everything was so wet from all the rain and rain and more rain we've had. Once they were done we went out and played in the snow a little bit. We didn't stay out long. That slushy stuff can be pretty cold on your feet pretty quickly! Pip likes to chase snow balls. I was too busy exploring and getting my new hoodie muddy. Hehe.

A little earlier in the day we drove by one of our usual walking trails ... the greenway. Parts of it were still under water. Today we are going to meet some people over at the park and walk, but I'm guess we don't go on and do the greenway. Hehe. I told Mom since I was a Daily Diary Pick I should get to be one of the ones that gets to walk today. Since there are four of us Mom makes us take turns. I'm a lucky girl this week, so I know it's going to be me!
