Arrival Story:
We adopted Rosie after finding her at a local shelter just before Thanksgiving this year. The whole family went to the shelter and met her before coming home. Leaving the shelter, she refused to get into a crate, the first inkling of the troubles that laid in front of us. I am now training to be a volunteer at the shelter we adopted her from.

Rosie is a Whippet/Australian Cattle Dog/Doberman Pinscher Mix. After getting home from the shelter, we learned more about her. She refused a dog treat shortly after coming home. Taking her for a walk was a real esperience, She barked at cars and lunged at trucks, she barked at people starting at about 200 feet away. She then went on in the next couple weeks to biting Quincy, our other dog, and our 7 year old son. We then got her a Thunder Shirt, and she seemed to calm down. Garbage trucks were still a major problem, she would run all over the house crazed with anxiety. We got her on Prozac. At this point it seems as it is all for naught. She is still uptight at cars and trucks, the biting has stopped, Garbage trucks are evil incarnate. We are considering working with a trainer to see if we can calm her down with training methods.
