Arrival Story:
I moved to California from Indiana because my husband joined the Marine Corps and we were stationed at Camp Pendleton. I was with a friend at the time, who had 3 dogs, and we went to the dog park and right next door was the humane society. So we went in just to look around and I saw Amia. They picked her up as a "stray" but she was pretty beaten up with bite wounds, ticks, and a few scars at the young age of 3 months (estimated at the time) and I just fell in love with her! She had huge ears that stuck straight up and never barked. Our eyes connected and it was instant love. I begged my husband for 4 days (she was on hold for 5 days for quarantine and to see if the owner would come for her) and I went back on the day of her release to be adopted and she was still there. I adopted her that day, during the adoption process, a gentleman came in and wanted to see her and luckily I got there just in time. She has been my guardian angel ever since. She has helped me through my depression, home sickness, my husband deploying and I couldn't be happier to have her in my life. She LOVES everyone! Kids, elderly, teens…doesn't matter, she just wants to play and be loved on. If she sees people and they don't love on her, she will whine like a little pig until they pet her! She loves dogs of all sizes, but gets overwhelmed with a lot of dogs. i am not sure if it is because of her past or that's just how she is. She has been socialized with every size and breed alive! Her 2 favorites were a German Shepherd named Selba and a Pom/Pap mix named Lucky. I love Amia probably more than I love my own husband :) She is the light in my life and wouldn't trade her for the world! She is spoiled rotten and she loves it! I will never own another breed of dog!
