Arrival Story:
This sweet little dog nearly lost her life due to pet overpopulation (please spay and neuter!). She was in an animal shelter and it was her day to be put down because they needed to make room for more unwanted dogs and puppies. Nobody had adopted her and her cage was needed so she was marked to die. Fate stepped in and she was saved just in the nick of time. I made a promise to her that I wouldn't let her be killed and I kept it. I thought she needed a name with meaning and felt that Promise would fit best because of my promise I made to her. I can't save them all, but I can make a difference for some. She is a sweet girl who adores me and I adore her. I think she knows just how close she came to dying, there was no good reason for this sweet soul to die - there are just too many dogs out there in need of homes. Too many dogs, just as sweet and cute and loving and loyal and devoted as Promise, are killed every day in animal shelters across the nation. We need to stop this - I can't imagine not knowing Promise and there are so many just like that don't get a second chance. Don't breed irresponsibly, spay and neuter! If you allow your pet to breed indiscriminately think of all the promises that will be broken and all the dogs/puppies that will die because you just had to let your dog breed. It might as well be you pushing the euthansia solution into their veins.

Bio:
Promise is an unknown mix, she is a beautiful brindle and white. Resembles a tall Corgi mix or a short Aussie mix. While Promise was running stray before being rescued she was in heat and apparently was bred because she was soon obviously pregnant. Though I usually spay/abort pregnant animals that I rescue I just couldn't do it this time. Promise had 6 puppies on April 12, 2005 - sadly we lost two but the other four are thriving! The other 4 pups were adopted to new loving homes after being spayed and neutered. Promise was also spayed and she has since been adopted to a new home where she is the center of attention - what she always wanted.

Puppies were born!

My puppies were born on April 12th - I've been so busy with them that I didn't have alot of time to update my diary. I had 6 pups, sadly one was stillborn and another had to be put to sleep a few days later because she had a cleft palate. I have 2 boys (Artemis & Merlin) and 2 girls (Saga & Astra) - they all look just like me! It's as if I had cloned myself! They will probably be bigger than me because they are gaining weight and becoming little tanks. Hard for my mom to even guess who the daddy was since she didn't know me at that time (I was a stray) and the babies all look like me. You can see their photos by going to our website www.fuzzybutts.com Lots of pictures there! Oh and they will be adoptable when they are 9-10 weeks old and will have been spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and more!

Still waiting for puppies

Hey there, Promise here. I'm still waiting on my puppies to be born - they are really moving around alot today and making me feel so tired. I have to sleep and then I keep having to go potty all the time. I wish they would hurry up and make their grand entrance into the world! Gotta go nap again, need to conserve all my energy... hopefully I will be having these puppies tonight!

Expecting puppies any day now

I'm writing this for Promise because she is tired and needs to conserve her energy. Well it seems that when I rescued Promise I also rescued her unborn puppies without knowing it - she had been coming out of heat when I brought her home. So sometime before I got her she had been bred. Her x-ray showed 6-7 puppies due in early April. So now we wait for puppies. They will be spayed/neutered and available for adoption when they are about 9 weeks old.
