As a fan of the rottweiler breed, my family was looking for a new dog/family member. Yogi was living with her first mama, Joni, in NC. Circumstances arose that made it impossible for Joni and her family to keep Yogi. To make a long story short, My husband and I heard about Yogi, and knew we had to see her, so we drove up to NC and loved her the moment we met her. We brought her back with us that day. : )

Today, at 8:20 am, we had to put Yogi to sleep. She has struggled with cancer in her legs for the last four months and it just got to be too much pain for her. She was on 2 pain medications but it didn't help any more. She is at peace now, and we all will miss her terribly.

Yogi, my Bear, you were an awesome dog and the best leg washer ever. The cats will miss you too, especially Dexter. Your quirks only made you more endearing and your eternally optimistic mood with carry us through. Go run and play with Jake now, he will LOVE you!

Ouch!

I can be a real drama queen when I want to be, but this nagging pain in my hips I didn't say much about to anyone. I don't remember when it started, but it must have been there for a while. A couple of weeks ago, my mom said I started whinning when I would go up the stairs. Then a few days later, I yelped when I started to go up.
My mom thought I had sprained something or stepped on something, but when she took me to the vet, he said it was arthritis. At MY age? I'm only 5!
But the vet hung pictures on the wall and showed my mom that I have the hips of a 10 year old rottie. Oh, boy! That sucks! No wonder it hurt!
They had me on a pain med for a few weeks that made me feel a little better, but it hurt my tummy. Now I'm supposed to start another kind of pain meds, but I have to wait a week with NO pain meds to clear my system out first. I am also taking a couple of yummy pills twice a day. My mommy says they are vitamins that will help my hips. Who cares! They taste really good!!

The Park

On Monday my mama and two of the children took me to what they called 'The Park'. I don't know what they thought of it, but boy oh boy! I knew as soon as I stepped out of the van, that this was going to be cool! The first thing that hit me was the smell! Oh, the smells of duck poop! Yippee!!
I saw a lot of ducks and geese! Everywhere we went there were tons of them! I just KNEW they wanted me to come in the water with them, and I tried my best, but mama wouldn't let me. She kept trying to tell me something, but I couldn't hear her. All I could hear was the ducks and geese calling me to come play. Oh! And did I mention how much I loved the duck poop?! Yeah-buddy! WhooHoo!!
Can't wait to go back there!
