Cuddling, tummy-rubs, running full-blast in wide-open areas, chasing small animals.

People & puppies pulling on my ears/tail, dogs who can't take a hint when I say 'this is MY bone!'

Favorite Toy:
pine-cones, bits of bark, a mouthful of dirt... oh and tennis balls are awesome too!

Favorite Food:
fresh meat, Zuke's Z-Ridge bones. [those are AMAZING!]

Favorite Walk:
I love walking anywhere... The beach, the forest, the cow's field (those cow patties are tasty...)

Best Tricks:
I know basics [sit, stay, come, heel, wait, hold still, lay down], and then I can roll over, paw, play dead, stand up, jump (I can jump over any given object Mom says and just straight up), circle, bark, sneeze, stretch, go away, I love tricks!

Arrival Story:
My family already had Cassy, our black lab... but I REALLY wanted my very own puppy to raise, name, feed, train, and love. I decided that I either wanted a German Shepherd, Husky, or Australian Shepherd.... none of which were adoptable at the time. A friend said her dog had puppies, so I asked if I could have a male. They brought the 2 boys left... there was a chubby fluffy guy.... or the lil' runt who had the amazing brown eyes. I decided to get the little runt & call him Shasta...

I'm a very special & lucky boy. My breed history is unknown for the most part. My mama did, however, know my real mom, dad, aunt, AND grandma. My dad was a lab/wolf cross, my auntie was a furry white/tan dog, and my mom/grandma were both black/tan mutts a lot like me. Basically, I come from a long line of mutts - and I'm proud of that! I'm a super smart dog, I've learned so many tricks over the years... When my brother, Loki (he's not too bright...) was working on "through" (a command I never learned), he just couldn't figure it out! Mama never asked me to do it, but finally, after watching Loki fail, I ran over and did a PERFECT "through". I'm a bit of a show off, yea. Mama says I'm also BY FAR the most emotional dog she's ever met. If you pay too much attention to someone else, I'll walk off and give you the pouty-face. When my bestest friend, Otto, passed, I went through severe depression as well... Mom brought home Loki to be my new brother, and I seemed even more depressed after that. Loki just isn't my type - okay? I adore new people, and I like to make anyone smile with my fancy tricks. I'm not a fan of new dogs. If I approach them and sniff em, then I'm fine. But if mama calls me back - or they look at me the wrong way, then I get all big n tough, growling my head off at them. I've scared many many dog owners with how savagely I can growl, HAHA! I'm Shasta, and I'm the one-in-a-million kinda mutt that is irreplaceable and unforgettable! =D
